RS485-TTL communication interface – expand the power supply capabilities

The INTR-C interface allows connecting power supplies from the EN54 (Red Power plus) or HPSG3-LCD series to the RS485 bus, while ensuring full galvanic isolation. This is a key solution for systems requiring remote monitoring and control, as well as integration with building automation systems. This enables effective power management and rapid response to potential failures.

Functionality and application

The INTR-C interface allows for remote monitoring of the power supply operation, which is particularly important in fire protection systems, where reliability and quick access to information are a priority. Communication is via the RS485 standard, which is characterized by high resistance to interference and the ability to connect multiple devices to a single bus. Galvanic isolation, amounting to 1000V DC and 700V AC, protects against damage caused by potential differences between devices. The data transmission rate reaches 115200 baud with parity control, ensuring fast and stable data transfer.

Design and mounting

The compact dimensions of the interface (63x50x20 mm) make it easy to mount inside the power supply housing. Optical signaling using LEDs (PWR – power, TX – data transmission, RX – data reception) allows for quick diagnosis of the device status. The interface is powered directly from the power supply (3.3 V), eliminating the need for additional power sources. The interface consumes minimal power – only 0.15 W. Mounting is simple and intuitive, and the included TTL cable facilitates connection to the power supply. Remember to connect the RS485 bus wires correctly (A+ to A+, B- to 😎 and possibly use terminating resistors at the ends of the bus (120 Ohm).
