EA class anti-contamination check valve, 1/2 inch, GW RV284-1/2A
Protection against backflow of water
The anti-pollution check valve RV284-1/2A prevents water from flowing back from the end-use installation into the supply network — for example, from taps, showers, or industrial equipment — thereby meeting the requirements of standard EN 1717. It is installed directly at the outlet of the water meter, where its role is critically important: protecting the quality of drinking water from contamination.
Construction and installation
Manufactured from dezincification-resistant brass (DZR), the valve is resistant to corrosion in aggressive water conditions, which is particularly important for long-term use. The connections feature cylindrical gas internal threads BSPP-G (ISO 228-1), enabling safe and leak-tight connections to pipes and fittings with standard threads. The connection length is 70 mm — sufficient to ensure stability during installation, even in limited spaces.
Installation is possible only in a horizontal position — it must not be installed vertically or at an angle. This is not a technical limitation but a consequence of the check valve mechanism's operation: the valve must function under the influence of gravity and pressure in the correct orientation to ensure full functionality.
Pressure and application
The valve operates safely at a maximum working pressure of 25 bar, making it suitable for both domestic water supply installations and more heavily loaded commercial or industrial systems. The net weight is only 0.1 kg — lightweight, but not lighter than necessary: the material and construction are optimized for durability rather than weight reduction.
No additional filter or adjustment is required — it operates automatically: when the pressure in the installation drops below the level of the supply source, the valve closes mechanically. It requires no maintenance or servicing under normal operating conditions.
