Ground heat exchanger damper – intelligent air control

The iGROUND CUBE 200 damper is a key component of ventilation systems with ground-to-air heat recovery (GWC). Its function is to optimize air intake, directing it either through a channel leading to a wall air inlet or through a heat exchanger buried in the ground. The decision on the air source is made automatically, based on current weather conditions and building needs – all thanks to the control algorithms in the HRV/ERV unit and the precise operation of the damper actuator.

The damper is not limited to standard operation with GWC. It can also be used in heat exchanger defrosting systems, allowing the air intake to be switched to internal circulation (recirculation) during the defrosting process. This increases system efficiency and ensures user comfort.

Construction and application – flexibility in every detail

The damper design is intended for easy installation and integration with existing ventilation systems. For the damper to perform its functions, the iEDGE E2.2 expansion module and T PROBE D2.2 temperature sensor are required. This enables precise control of airflow and adaptation to current needs.

The damper is available in two diameters – 200 mm, allowing it to be adapted to different sizes of ventilation units. It is worth remembering that due to the greater air flow resistance through the ground heat exchanger, it is recommended to connect the damper directly to the ventilation unit spigot – this minimizes pressure loss and ensures optimal system performance.

• Durability: The damper design is designed to ensure long-term and trouble-free operation even in difficult operating conditions. However, remember to regularly check the condition of the seals and insulating foam.
