This Schneider Electric Altivar 320 frequency inverter is a reliable solution for controlling asynchronous and synchronous motors. Designed for simple and advanced industrial applications, it offers optimal performance and safety. Intended for powering motors up to 5.5 kW (7.5 HP) with a current capacity of up to 27.5 A, it finds application in packaging machines, close-range transport, mechanical actuators, and lifting equipment.

Design and functionality

The Altivar 320 stands out with its compact design, allowing for vertical arrangement of drives in machines – which translates into space savings. The enclosure with IP20 protection provides protection against the ingress of solid objects larger than 12.5 mm. The built-in EMC filter minimizes electromagnetic interference. The inverter is adapted to operate at temperatures up to 60°C and meets high environmental resistance standards (3C3 according to EN/IEC 60721-3-3). The standard HD (Heavy Duty) design allows for overloading the drive by 1.5 x In for 60 seconds every 10 minutes and generating torque up to 200% Mn – which increases its versatility and minimizes the risk of incorrect selection.

Communication and safety

The inverter offers wide communication possibilities, including TCP/IP, Modbus, PROFIBUS, CANopen and DeviceNet protocols. RS-485 ports and a USB interface are also available. The ability to integrate with the EcoStruxure Machine automation architecture facilitates diagnostics and remote monitoring of the device. In addition, integrated safety functions (STO, SLS, SS1, SMS, GDL) increase the safety level of the machines and devices operated. The Safe Torque Off (STO) function ensures immediate disconnection of torque in the event of a failure or hazardous situation.
