Frequency inverter ATV320 – a compact solution for motor control

The ATV320 frequency inverter is a versatile device designed to control both synchronous and asynchronous motors. Its compact design allows for easy mounting inside machines, minimizing space usage. This model, with a power of 0.18 kW and a current of 1.5A, is ideal for simple industrial and commercial applications such as packaging machines, conveyors, and actuators. The integrated EMC filter ensures electromagnetic compatibility, and the IP20 protection degree protects against the ingress of solid objects.

Functionality and communication

The ATV320 inverter offers a wide range of functions and communication capabilities. It has 6 digital inputs, 1 digital output, 3 analog inputs, and 1 analog output. It supports communication protocols such as CANopen, Modbus RTU, DeviceNet, PROFIBUS, and PROFINET IO and EtherNet/IP, making it easy to integrate with existing automation systems. Additionally, it has one Industrial Ethernet connector and RS-485. The ability to connect to a PC enables easy configuration and diagnostics of the device.

Construction and application

The housing, with dimensions of 72 x 143 x 109 mm, is made of high-quality materials ensuring durability and reliability. The inverter is designed to operate at temperatures up to 60°C (with derating) and meets IEC/EN 61800-5-1 and IEC/EN 61800-3 standards regarding immunity to interference and electromagnetic emissions. Thanks to the ability to operate in all quadrants of the coordinate system and support for both asynchronous and synchronous motors, it finds application in a wide spectrum of applications – from simple packaging machines to more advanced close-range transport systems. Integrated safety functions (STO, SLS, SS1, SMS, GDL) increase machine safety.
