Frequency inverter ATV320 – a reliable drive for machines and processes

Schneider Electric Altivar 320 frequency inverter is a robust solution for controlling asynchronous and synchronous motors in industrial applications. The device, with an IP20 protection class and a supply voltage from 525V to 600V AC, is designed to work with motors up to 1.5kW (2.0 HP) and a current capacity of up to 2.7A. It will be suitable for simple industrial machines, such as packaging machines, short-range conveyors, mechanical actuators, or lifting devices.

Design and functionality

ATV320 is characterized by a compact design, allowing for vertical arrangement of drives inside machines – which translates into space saving. The robust construction allows operation at temperatures up to 60°C and ensures resistance to environmental conditions (class 3C3 and 3S2 according to EN/IEC 60721-3-3). The inverter is standardly adapted for heavy-duty applications (HD), offering 1.5 x In overload for 60 seconds every 10 minutes and a maximum torque of 200% Mn. The integrated braking module (chopper) increases functionality and safety.

Communication and safety

Altivar ATV320 offers wide communication possibilities, including built-in CANopen and Modbus RTU ports and FDT/DTM technologies. Communication modules compatible with PLCOpen are also available, facilitating integration with control systems. The device supports protocols such as TCP/IP, PROFIBUS, CAN, Modbus and EtherNet/IP and PROFINET IO. Additionally, it is possible to use five certified safety functions: STO (Safe Torque Off), SLS (Safely Limited Speed), SS1 (Safe Stop 1), SMS (Safe Maximum Speed) and GDL (Guard Door Locking). The built-in PLC controller – Altivar Logic – allows for the implementation of complex control applications without the need for additional elements.
