Frequency inverter for a wide range of industrial applications

This Schneider Electric Altivar 320 frequency inverter is a reliable and efficient solution for controlling asynchronous and synchronous motors. Designed for simple industrial and commercial machines such as packaging machines, close-conveyor systems, actuators and lifting devices, it offers process optimization and cost reduction. The device operates at a voltage of 200-240V AC and is adapted to a load of up to 15 kW at a current of 66A.

Design and functionality

The Altivar 320 is characterized by a compact design (dimensions: 180 x 330 x 198 mm) allowing for installation in limited space. The IP20 protection class provides protection against contact and ingress of solid objects. The inverter has a built-in EMC filter, which minimizes electromagnetic interference. The integrated braking module (chopper) increases the efficiency and safety of the system.

The inverter offers a wide range of communication interfaces, including RS-485, CANopen, Modbus RTU and TCP/IP, PROFIBUS and DeviceNet protocols. The availability of these protocols facilitates integration with existing automation systems and allows for remote control and monitoring of operating parameters. Additionally, the device has a PC connection for easy configuration and diagnostics.

Safety and efficiency

The Altivar 320 has been designed with operator safety and reliability in mind. The ability to use five built-in safety functions – STO (Safe Torque Off), SLS (Safely Limited Speed), SS1 (Safe Stop 1), SMS (Safe Maximum Speed) and GDL (Guard Door Locking) – increases the level of protection in critical applications. The robust construction allows operation at temperatures up to 60°C and in harsh environmental conditions (class 3C3 according to EN/IEC 60721-3-3). Standardly designed for heavy-duty applications (HD), with an overload of 1.5 x In for 60s every 10min and a maximum torque of 200% Mn, minimizes the risk of incorrect device selection.

Thanks to the integrated Altivar Logic controller, the inverter enables the implementation of complex control algorithms using over 50 function blocks. A wide range of supply voltage from 230 to 600VAC provides installation flexibility and reduces costs associated with supply lines.
