Frequency inverter ATV320 – reliable motor control

The Schneider Electric Altivar 320 frequency inverter is a versatile device designed to control synchronous and asynchronous motors. It provides reliable operation in a wide range of industrial and commercial applications, such as packaging machines, conveyors, actuators, and lifting equipment. The design in an enclosure with an IP20 protection class guarantees safety in environments with limited exposure to dust and moisture. The device operates with a power supply voltage of 200-240V AC and is adapted for motors with a power of up to 2.2 kW (3.0 HP) and a current capacity of up to 11.0 A.

Functionality and communication

ATV320 offers a wide range of functions and communication possibilities, making it an ideal solution for both simple and more advanced applications. It has 6 digital inputs, 1 digital output, 3 analog inputs, and 1 analog output. It supports communication protocols such as TCP/IP, PROFIBUS, CAN, Modbus, DeviceNet, and EtherNet/IP. Additionally, it is equipped with an RS-485 port and the ability to connect to a PC. The integrated PLC controller (Altivar Logic) with 50 function blocks allows for the implementation of complex control algorithms without the need for an external controller.

Construction and characteristics

The compact design of the inverter allows for easy mounting and integration with various machines. The built-in braking module (chopper) ensures effective motor stopping in emergency situations or during operation under heavy load. The device is adapted to operate at temperatures up to 60°C and meets high environmental resistance standards (3C3 according to EN/IEC 60721-3-3). It is standardly designed for heavy-duty applications (HD), which means it can be overloaded by 50% for a short time without damaging the device. This allows it to be used in demanding working conditions. Additionally, the option of mounting expansion cards to increase the functionality of the device is available.
