Energy Management in Photovoltaic System

The BTS 5K-BDU module is the core of the BTS E5-E20 energy storage system, integrating one to four LiFePO₄ batteries into a single, intelligent unit. This is not merely a relay—it functions as a central controller that determines when solar energy should be stored, when delivered to the home, and when left idle. As a result, the user does not lose excess solar energy—instead, it is stored for later use when demand increases, such as in the evening or during cloudy periods.

Safe and Modular Connections

The Distribution Unit (BDU) ensures safe and stable connections between the batteries and the inverter. There are no loose cables or unprotected connection points—all are integrated and controlled via CAN bus. This not only simplifies installation but also eliminates the risk of errors during module connection. The system’s expandability from 5 kWh to nearly 20 kWh means the installation can grow alongside your needs—you add another battery, and the BDU automatically integrates it.

Monitoring and Easy Operation

The system requires no constant supervision—the BDU continuously monitors charge state, temperature, and current in each module. This data is transmitted to the inverter, which optimizes system performance accordingly. For the user, operation is as simple as one button: turn the entire storage system on or off with a single action. In sleep mode, self-discharge is minimal, ensuring energy is not lost due to internal leakage.

Compatibility and Design

The module operates exclusively with hybrid inverters from Sofar HYD (5K–20KTL-3PH) and ME of the same series. This is not a universal interface—it is specifically engineered for these devices, guaranteeing stability and eliminating communication conflicts. With dimensions of 708 x 200 x 170 mm and a weight of 7.5 kg, wall or cabinet mounting is straightforward—no special structural supports are required. Each package includes one BTS 5K extension base—essential for the physical connection of additional battery modules.
