The meter offers functions such as HOLD mode (value hold), automatic zeroing, PEAK HOLD mode (peak value measurement) and the ability to choose the measurement unit (lux or foot-candle). Automatic shutdown after a specified time saves battery power. The device is powered by a 9V battery or an 8.4V rechargeable battery.
