Plastic sealing paste for sanitary installations
In areas where traditional rubber gaskets or silicone do not provide full assurance of tightness, a material that can be precisely adapted to irregular surfaces is essential. Monokit is exactly such a solution – a plastic, non-hardening mounting paste that enables the creation of durable connections in drainage systems. Thanks to its consistency, it fills all irregularities between installation components while ensuring complete water and gas tightness. This is particularly important when joining different materials, where differences in thermal expansion could lead to leaks.
Application and material compatibility
The product has been designed with the specific requirements of the sanitary industry in mind. Its primary function is sealing connections in drains, siphons, and floor drains. The paste exhibits very good adhesion to a wide range of substrates, making it a universal tool for installers. It can be applied to:
- Metal (e.g., steel pipes and fittings),
- Porcelain (sanitary ceramics),
- Plastics (PVC, PP pipes).
A key advantage is the chemical neutrality of the material – Monokit does not attack the substrate, eliminating the risk of corrosion or degradation of the sealed components. This makes it ideal for tasks such as connecting a toilet bowl to a sewer pipe or sealing pipe penetrations through walls and floors in bathrooms.
Construction features and operating conditions
Unlike many other sealants, this paste does not harden after application. It remains permanently plastic and flexible, allowing it to compensate for minor structural movements of the building without loss of tightness. The material is resistant to shrinkage (cold sensitivity) and does not degrade upon contact with water or sewage gases. If necessary, the connection can be easily disassembled, and residual paste removed without the need for aggressive solvents or specialized cutting tools.
The material is based on polybutene and has a density of 2.4 g/mL. It is ready for use immediately after removal from the packaging – simply knead it in your hands to achieve the appropriate plasticity before application. The recommended working conditions are within a temperature range of +5°C to +30°C for optimal handling, although the material maintains its properties over a wider operating temperature range (up to +60°C). It should be stored for 2 years in a dry place at a temperature between +5°C and +25°C.
Before application, surfaces must be clean, dry, and degreased – removal of old sealant residues is necessary to ensure maximum adhesion of the new paste layer. Thanks to this simple procedure, a connection with excellent insulating properties for both water and air is achieved.
