Fire-resistant power cable – safety and reliability in critical installations

This power cable, designated as NHXH-J FE180 PH90/E90 0.6/1 kV 3x4 RE, is an advanced solution designed for applications requiring the highest level of fire safety. Manufactured by TECHNOKABEL S.A., this cable is designed for use in installations where the protection of people and property is a priority – from public buildings, through hospitals, to tunnels and shopping centers. Its construction and materials guarantee the maintenance of electrical functions even in post-fire conditions for 90 minutes (PH90/E90), which is crucial for safety and evacuation systems.

Construction and properties

The cable is distinguished by carefully selected materials and advanced construction. Made of soft copper wires (RE - single-wire round class 1), it provides flexibility and ease of installation. The insulation of the cores is made of cross-linked halogen-free plastic, which minimizes the emission of toxic gases in the event of a fire. The cores are twisted in layers in the center, and the whole is surrounded by a filling layer of halogen-free material and an outer layer of HFFR (with HM4 properties according to PN-HD 604 S1), providing resistance to UV radiation and high mechanical resistance. The green-yellow protective conductor in the NHXH-J cable is placed in the outer layer for additional safety.

They are ideal for powering devices that require continuous operation during a fire – fire pumps, smoke exhaust fans, emergency lighting or fire elevators. The core cross-section of 4 mm² with three cores provides adequate current carrying capacity for many applications.
