Fire‑resistant cable for signaling and automation systems
Cable YnTKSY (1) 2x2x0.5 red is a specialized cable intended for installation in fire‑alarm and fire‑automation systems. It is used where maintaining functionality at the moment of fire detection is critical – i.e., when the control panel must transmit a signal to auxiliary devices such as ventilation shut‑off, elevator stop, or building power shutdown.
Its construction ensures stable operation even under extreme conditions. The sheath made of special PVC with an oxygen index above 29 % not only gives it the characteristic red colour but also prevents flame propagation. Internal conductors – single‑strand copper – have a cross‑section of 0.5 mm² and are twisted into two pairs, minimizing interference when transmitting low‑level analog and digital signals.
A static shield of laminated metal foil plus a tinned grounding conductor protect the assembly from electromagnetic interference – important when operating near motors, transformers or other industrial equipment. The cable core is wrapped with polyester tape, adding rigidity and facilitating installation.
Application and operating conditions
The cable is intended solely for permanent indoor installations. It is not suitable for outdoor or humid environments without additional protection. It operates safely in temperatures from -40 °C to +80 °C – meaning it can be installed even in unheated rooms or mechanically ventilated corridors.
It is worth noting: its primary purpose is not power transmission but reliable transmission of the trigger signal. Therefore it has low inductance (≈0.7 mH/km) and high insulation resistance (min. 200 MΩ·km), guaranteeing a clean signal even over long runs.
Compliance and safety
It has a National Technical Assessment and a type‑approval certificate from CNBOP-PIB in Józefów – the only document confirming its legal use in fire‑protection installations. This is not a “signaling cable” – it is a life‑saving cable. Its construction prevents loss of function during a fire; it does not melt like ordinary PVC, does not emit toxic gases, and its insulation remains intact for the time needed to activate rescue systems.
Installation requires care: the minimum laying temperature is -5 °C. It must not be sharply bent – the outer diameter is about 4.5 mm, so the bending radius should be at least 6–8 times larger.
