Mining Signal Cable – Reliability and Safety in Demanding Conditions
YnKGSLY 0.6/1 kV cable is a specialized solution designed for control, measurement, signaling, automation, and local communication circuits in mining facilities. The cable’s construction is engineered for the harsh conditions typical of mining environments, ensuring reliable operation even in potentially explosive atmospheres. This cable is suitable for both open-pit and underground mines, meeting stringent safety standards.
Construction and Applications
The YnKGSLY cable features flexible, multi-wire copper conductors of Class 5 (zinc-coating available on request), providing high flexibility and resistance to mechanical damage. Conductor insulation is made of insulating PVC in various colors to facilitate easy identification of individual wires. Conductors are layered twisted around a central core, which is further protected by a polyester tape. The outer sheath is made of special flame-retardant rubber-grade PVC, available in black RAL 9005 or blue RAL 5015 (for use in intrinsically safe circuits).
These cables are suitable for use in:
- Open-pit and borehole mining facilities outside explosive hazard zones.
- Underground mining facilities in non-methane and methane-bearing areas classified as “a” hazard level.
- Underground mining workings classified as Class A for coal dust explosion hazard.
- Intrinsically safe circuits in open-pit, borehole, and underground facilities classified under appropriate explosion hazard levels.
Important: These cables are not intended for power supply installations.
Design Features and Certifications
The YnKGSLY cable holds a positive technical opinion No. 05/53 and certificate No. 05/53/A1/2 issued by the TI EMAG Institute, confirming compliance with safety requirements and suitability for use in demanding mining environments. Conductor cross-section is 1.5 mm², with a total of 14 cores (13 signal conductors + 1 protective earth conductor). This configuration enables complex control and monitoring systems. As a result, this cable is ideal for installers executing mining projects and end-users seeking a reliable solution for signaling and control systems.
