Mining Signal Cable – Reliability in Harsh Conditions

YnKGSLY 0.6/1 kV cable is a specialized solution designed for operation under demanding conditions typical of mining environments. It is used in control, measurement, signaling, automation, and local communication circuits. The cable’s construction is engineered to ensure safety and reliability in potentially explosive atmospheres.

These cables are approved for use in both surface and underground mines, meeting stringent standards for operation in methane and non-methane zones, as well as in areas at risk of coal dust explosions. Additionally, they can be employed in spark-proof circuits. They hold a positive technical opinion from the TI EMAG Institute (No. 05/53) and a certification (No. 05/53/A1/2), confirming compliance with all safety requirements.

Construction and Design Features

The durability and reliability of YnKGSLY cables stem from their thoughtful design. They feature flexible, multi-strand copper conductors (with an optional zinc-coated variant), ensuring excellent flexibility and resistance to mechanical damage. Conductors are insulated with insulating PVC in colors that facilitate identification: green-yellow for the protective conductor, and black and blue for the remaining conductors (in 3-core cables). In cables with more cores, additional colors are used: brown and black with printed numbers.

Conductors are layered twisted around the cable core, which is further protected by a polyester tape. The outer sheath is made of special flame-retardant, self-extinguishing rubber-grade PVC, available in black RAL 9005 or blue RAL 5015 (for spark-proof circuits). Cables with halogen-free sheathing (designated Xn) are also available, minimizing the emission of toxic gases during fire.

The YnKGSLY 2x1.0+1.0 cable features conductor cross-sections of 1 mm². It is a 3-core cable, comprising one protective conductor and two active conductors, ensuring safe and efficient transmission of control and measurement signals in harsh mining environments.
