Mining Signal Cable – Reliability in Harsh Conditions

The YnKGSLY 0.6/1 kV cable is a specialized conductor designed for operation under demanding conditions typical of mining environments. It is used in control, measurement, signaling, automation, and local communication circuits. Its construction and materials ensure safe and reliable performance even in explosive zones.

This cable is approved for use in both open-pit and underground mining facilities, meeting stringent safety standards. It holds a positive technical opinion from the TI EMAG Institute (No. 05/53) and an attestation (No. 05/53/A1/2), confirming its high quality and compliance with applicable regulations.

Construction and Properties

The key to the YnKGSLY cable’s durability lies in its carefully engineered design. It features flexible, multi-wire copper conductors of Class 5 (per PN-EN 60228), ensuring excellent flexibility and resistance to mechanical damage. The conductors are insulated with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) in colors facilitating identification: black and blue for functional conductors, and green-yellow for the protective earth conductor. The layered twisted conductors are wrapped in a polyester tape and enclosed in a special self-extinguishing, flame-retardant polyvinyl chloride (PVC) sheath available in black RAL 9005 or blue RAL 5015 (for use in intrinsically safe circuits).

Thanks to the selected materials, the cable exhibits high resistance to abrasion, moisture, and chemical agents common in mining environments. Additionally, the PVC sheath provides effective protection against corrosion and mechanical damage.

Applications and Standards

The YnKGSLY cable is widely used across various mining sectors:

• In open-pit and surface mining facilities (outside explosive zones).
• In underground mining facilities in non-methane and methane-bearing fields (in areas classified as “a” explosion hazard).
• In underground mining workings classified as Class A for coal dust explosion hazard.
• In intrinsically safe circuits in open-pit and surface mining facilities, as well as in underground rooms classified under appropriate explosion hazard levels.

The cable complies with the Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU and the EN 60332-1-2 standard for flame propagation testing, guaranteeing safety and regulatory compliance. This cable must not be used in power supply electrical installations.
