Mining signal cable – reliability and safety in harsh conditions

This YnKGSLY 0.6/1 kV cable is a specialized solution designed for operation in the demanding conditions of mining. Designed for control, measurement, signaling, control and local communication circuits, it provides stable and safe signal transmission. The cable is used in both open-pit and underground mines, meeting the stringent safety standards applicable in these environments.

This cable is approved for use in methane and non-methane fields, as well as in workings threatened by coal dust explosions. The possibility of use in intrinsically safe circuits expands its scope of application. Importantly, this cable is not intended for power installations. It has a positive technical opinion from the TI EMAG Institute (No. 05/53) and a Certificate (No. 05/53/A1/2), which confirms its compliance with safety and quality requirements.

Construction and properties

The YnKGSLY cable is characterized by a solid construction ensuring long-term and reliable operation. Its construction includes:

• Conductors: flexible, stranded with soft copper wires (optionally tinned), class 5 according to PN-EN 60228. This ensures the flexibility of the cable and facilitates its installation even in tight spaces.
• Conductor insulation: made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) insulation in various colors – green-yellow for the protective conductor and black and blue (or brown) for the remaining conductors. Color coding makes it easier to identify individual conductors during installation and maintenance.
• Conductor twisting: insulated conductors are twisted in layers around the cable core, which minimizes electromagnetic interference and ensures stable signal transmission.
• Cable core: wrapped with a polyester tape for additional mechanical protection.
• Cable sheath: made of a special self-extinguishing, highly flame-retardant polyvinyl chloride (PVC) compound, available in black RAL 9005 or blue RAL 5015 (for intrinsically safe circuits).

This cable has 4 conductors with a cross-section of 2.5 mm², making it suitable for many applications in mining. Thanks to the materials and construction used, the cable is resistant to mechanical damage and atmospheric factors prevailing in mines.
