Mining Signal Cable – Reliability and Safety in Harsh Conditions

The YnKGSLY 0.6/1 kV cable is a specialized solution designed for operation in the demanding conditions of mining. Designed for control, measurement, signaling, control and local communication circuits, it provides stable and safe signal transmission in open-pit and underground mines. Its construction and materials guarantee resistance to mechanical damage and the effects of factors occurring in the mining environment.

Construction and Application

YnKGSLY cables are intended for use in both methane and non-methane fields, as well as in workings threatened by coal dust explosions. They meet stringent safety standards and have a positive technical opinion from the TI EMAG Institute (No. 05/53) and a certificate (No. 05/53/A1/2), confirming their suitability for use in underground mining plants. These cables are not intended for power installations.

The cable construction includes:

• Conductors: flexible, stranded, twisted from soft copper wires (tinned on request), class 5 according to PN-EN 60228. This ensures flexibility and resistance to material fatigue during operation.
• Insulation: made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) insulation in various colors for easy identification of the conductors. In a 6-core cable (plus protective conductor) we have a green-yellow protective conductor and black and blue working conductors.
• Cable Core: conductors twisted in layers surrounded by a polyester tape for additional mechanical protection.
• Sheath: made of a special self-extinguishing PVC sheathing material with increased fire resistance, available in black RAL 9005 or blue RAL 5015 (for intrinsically safe circuits).
