Mining signal cable – reliability and safety in harsh conditions

The YnKGSLY cable is a specialized solution designed for operation in demanding mining environments. Designed for control, measurement, signaling, control and local communication circuits, it provides stable and safe operation in the specific conditions prevailing in mines. This cable is used in both open-pit and underground workings, meeting stringent safety standards.

YnKGSLY cables are approved for use in methane and non-methane fields, as well as in workings threatened by coal dust explosions. In addition, they can be used in intrinsically safe circuits, which increases their versatility and range of applications. They have a positive technical opinion from the TI EMAG Institute (No. 05/53) and a certificate (No. 05/53/A1/2), confirming their compliance with safety requirements.

Construction and characteristic features

The YnKGSLY cable is characterized by a solid construction ensuring long-term and reliable operation. It consists of:

• Flexible copper conductors: Multi-wire conductors twisted from soft copper wires (optionally tinned) class 5 according to PN-EN 60228, guarantee flexibility and resistance to mechanical damage.
• Insulation made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC): Provides effective electrical insulation and protection against external factors. The colors of the conductor insulation facilitate identification: green-yellow (protective conductor) and black, blue and brown (working conductors). In 5-core cables, there is an additional black conductor with printed numbers.
• Cable core wrapped with polyester tape: Provides additional mechanical protection and structural stability.
• Sheath made of rubberized polyvinyl chloride (PVC): Made of a self-extinguishing material with increased fire resistance, available in black RAL 9005 or blue RAL 5015 (for use in intrinsically safe circuits). Other colors are also available on request.

Thanks to this combination of materials, the cable is resistant to abrasion, moisture and the action of chemicals typical of the mining environment. The conductor cross-section in this model is 1 mm². The cable has 5 cores.
