Mining Signal Cable – Reliability in Harsh Conditions

The YnKGSLY cable is a specialized solution designed for use in control, measurement, signaling, automation, and local communication circuits in mining facilities. Engineered to withstand the demanding conditions of mining environments, it ensures safe and reliable signal transmission. The cable is available in yellow and features 19 cores with a cross-section of 1.5 mm².

Application and Operating Environment

YnKGSLY cables are suitable for use in both open-pit and underground mining operations. They can be installed in methane and non-methane areas (in premises with specified explosion hazard levels), as well as in workings at risk of coal dust explosions. Additionally, these cables are approved for use in intrinsically safe circuits, enhancing safety in explosive zones. It is important to note that these cables are not intended for power supply installations. They hold a positive technical opinion No. 05/53 and Certificate No. 05/53/A1/2 issued by the TI EMAG Institute, confirming compliance with stringent safety standards.

Construction and Design Features

The cable features a robust construction ensuring long-term, reliable performance. It consists of:

• Flexible, multi-wire cores: made from soft copper wires (optionally zinc-coated), Class 5 according to PN-EN 60228, providing cable flexibility and ease of installation.
• Core insulation: made of insulating PVC in various colors to facilitate identification of individual cores. Insulation colors depend on the number of cores: green-yellow for the protective core, and black, blue, and brown for the others.
• Cable core: layered twisted cores wrapped in polyester tape for additional mechanical protection.
• Cable sheath: made of special flame-retardant, self-extinguishing PVC compound, available in black RAL 9005 or blue RAL 5015 (for intrinsically safe circuits).

Special cable variants are also available:

• YnKGSLX: with polyethylene (X) insulation of low capacitance, ideal for long-distance signal transmission.
• XnKGSLX: halogen-free cables offering enhanced fire safety – they do not propagate flame, emit minimal smoke, and release non-corrosive gases.
