This drop test for water is a quick and easy way to determine water hardness, both for professionals and home users. It allows for an accurate assessment of the calcium and magnesium content in the water, which is crucial when selecting appropriate filters, softeners, or assessing the condition of the water installation. The test is extremely useful when installing water softening devices, allowing them to be adapted to specific conditions.

Just a few drops of reagent and a simple observation of the color change will give you a reliable result. One drop corresponds to 1 dH (German degree), which makes it easier to interpret the result. The kit contains everything you need to perform the test: a bottle with liquid (15 ml = 300 drops), a syringe and a water container.

Application and interpretation of results

The measurement result allows you to determine whether the water is very soft (0-4 dH), soft (5-8 dH), moderately hard (9-12 dH), hard (13-18 dH) or very hard (above 19 dH). Water with high hardness promotes the deposition of scale in installations and equipment, which can lead to their failure and reduced efficiency. If the result is in the range of 10-12 dH, considering the use of a water softener is recommended to protect installations and equipment. This test is ideal for controlling water quality in aquariums, washing machines and for monitoring the effectiveness of water treatment systems.
