The device with a capacity of 5120 Wh (5.12 kWh) allows for the efficient storage of excess energy produced by a photovoltaic installation during the day. Thanks to this, during peak consumption hours – i.e., in the morning and evening, when solar radiation is low – the system can automatically supply the accumulated power to the home grid or commercial facility. This operating strategy significantly reduces the need to draw electricity from the public grid, which translates into lower bills and greater energy autonomy. The solution works well in both single-family homes and public buildings, such as hotels, restaurants, or small factories, where power stability is crucial.
Chemical safety and longevity of LiFePO4 cells
The heart of this storage unit consists of lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) cells. The choice of this chemistry is not accidental – these cells are characterized by significantly higher thermal and chemical resistance compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries, which minimizes the risk of overheating or damage. This translates into real system longevity: the device withstands approximately 6000 charge and discharge cycles while maintaining at least 60% of its original capacity. For the user, this means that the investment in this storage unit will serve for many years without the need for frequent battery replacement, even with intensive cyclic use.
The BMS (Battery Management System) acts as the operational "brain." It constantly monitors the voltage of each module, current intensity, and operating temperature. In the event of an anomaly – e.g., excessive discharge, overcharge, or extreme temperatures – the system immediately disconnects the circuit or limits operation, protecting both the storage unit itself and the connected end devices from failure.
Expansion flexibility and inverter integration
The device's design was conceived with future system expansion in mind. Thanks to its modular construction, up to 16 of these storage units can be connected in parallel in a single circuit. If energy demand increases (e.g., after purchasing a heat pump or an electric car), it is sufficient to purchase another module and connect it to the existing installation, increasing the total capacity without the need to replace the entire system. However, it should be noted that series connection is not permitted for this model.
Compatibility with solar inverters is key to the stability of the entire PV system. The storage unit has been optimized for compatibility with SINUS PRO ULTRA series inverters with powers of 8000 VA and 10000 VA. The built-in BMS communicates with the inverter via communication protocols (available PC software: PB_MS_LVTOOLS V1.38), allowing for precise management of the charging and discharging process according to the current battery state and the building's demand.
Operating conditions and installation aspects
The device is characterized by high energy efficiency at a level of 98%, which means minimal energy loss during DC/DC or DC/AC conversion processes. A continuous current reaching 100A allows for fast charging during high PV production surplus and the delivery of high power during peak consumption moments (e.g., simultaneously starting an induction hob or an oven).
Regarding environmental conditions, the device offers a wide temperature range: safe discharging is possible from -20°C to +55°C, while charging requires a temperature above 0°C (up to +55°C). A low self-discharge level below 3% per month ensures that energy can be stored for long periods without significant loss, even at temperatures from -20°C to +45°C. From an installation standpoint, it is worth noting the compact dimensions (approx. 75 cm height) and a weight of about 56 kg, which facilitates wall mounting in a garage or boiler room without occupying much floor spa
