Signal routing through terminal blocks

The WQV 2.5/4-0 cross-connector is used to create jumper connections between adjacent terminals on DIN rails. Thanks to its cross-connector design, it enables rapid routing of potential or signal through a group of four terminals - without the need for additional wires. This solution eliminates cable clutter in switchgear and control cabinets.

Design and materials

The housing is made of polyamide PA66 (nylon 6.6), which provides resistance to abrasion and high temperatures. The material is self-extinguishing - according to the UL94V-0 flammability class, burning stops within 10 seconds without dripping, which is significant in the event of a fire failure.

Geometric dimensions are matched to standard terminal blocks with a wire cross-section of 2.5 mm²:

• Total width is 7 mm
• Pin pitch (raster) is 5.1 mm
• Housing height is 19.3 mm, depth is 18 mm

The yellow insulation color is intentional - it stands out against typical gray or beige terminals, facilitating the identification of jumper connections during inspections and servicing.

Compatibility and mounting method

The connector is snap-on mounted and secured with clamping screws - the tightening torque is in the range of 0.4-0.8 Nm. The screw connection guarantees a stable contact even during operation under vibration conditions.

The product is compatible with a wide family of Weidmüller W-series terminals:

Mounting takes place directly on the terminals - no additional tools or adapters are required.

Operating parameters and operating conditions

A rated current of 32 A allows for the transmission of significant power through the jumper connections without the risk of overheating contacts. The large contact surface of the metallic bridge ensures low contact resistance and minimal thermal losses.

The continuous operating temperature range from -60°C to +130°C makes the product suitable for both industrial cold storage and near heat sources generated by power elements.

The storage temperature is in the range from -25°C to +55°C - typical warehouse conditions do not pose a problem for this type of product.

Standards and approvals

The product complies with the requirements of the RoHS directive regarding the restriction of hazardous substances and is free from SVHC (substances of very high concern). It does not have ATEX/Ex-e certification intended for explosion-prone zones - this should be taken into account when selecting for applications in the chemical or petroleum industry.

The ETIM classification EC000489 clearly defines the product as an element for cross-connections in rail-mounted terminal blocks.

The WQV 2.5/4-0 connector is used wherever an installer needs to quickly connect potentials between multiple power or signal paths - typically in building and industrial switchgear and process automation cabinets for mass production.
