Modbus RTU Communication Module – Expand Control Capabilities

This IF-Modbus RTU communication module is a dedicated accessory that allows integration of Wilo pumps with building automation systems (BAS) via the Modbus RTU interface. Communication is via the RS485 bus, using the “Modbus over Serial Line” protocol compliant with Modbus IDA V1.02. This solution enables remote monitoring and control of the pump's operation, optimizing its performance and integrating it with the overall building management system.

Compatibility and Application

The module is designed as an upgrade module, meaning it can be easily integrated with existing installations. It is compatible with the following types of Wilo pumps:

• Wilo Stratos GIGA (from 09/2010)
• Wilo VeroLine IP E with IE2 motor (from 09/2010)
• Wilo VeroTwin DP E with IE2 motor (from 09/2010)
• Wilo CronoLine IL E (from 09/2010)
• Wilo CronoTwin DL E (from 09/2010)
• Wilo Helix EXCEL
• Wilo Economy MHIE
• Wilo Multivert MVIE
• Wilo Helix VE

Thanks to this, regardless of the pump model, its functionality can be extended to include Modbus RTU communication.

Installation and Integration

The module is easy to install and configure. It is a plug-in accessory, simplifying the installation process. After connecting to the pump and the RS485 bus, it enables the transmission of data and control of pump operating parameters from the building automation system. This solution is particularly useful in applications requiring precise control and monitoring of equipment, such as HVAC systems or industrial water heating installations. Additionally, the module is not a replacement or spare part – it serves to expand the capabilities of an existing pump.
