Check valve fig. 407A, double-disc, wafer-type - straight DN65PN16 407A065C54
Application and Operating Principle in Hydraulic Installations
The check valve fig. 407A is a key component for the safety of hydraulic circuits where prevention of medium backflow is required. The device operates on the principle of automatic shut-off of reverse flow, protecting pumps from damage and eliminating the risk of uncontrolled fluid movement within the installation. Thanks to its double-disc (butterfly) construction, the valve responds rapidly to changes in flow direction, while the stainless steel spring ensures effective disc closure even in vertical or horizontal positions. This is a critical feature for installers who often need to mount components in challenging spatial conditions where traditional gravity-operated check valves would fail.
The device is designed for use with water, glycol solutions, and other neutral media, making it a universal solution in heating, cooling, and industrial systems. The maximum operating temperature is +100°C (with a permissible temporary increase to +110°C), allowing its application in circuits with higher thermal parameters. The flow coefficient Kvs of 54 m³/h ensures minimal hydraulic resistance at full opening, resulting in reduced energy consumption by the circulation pump.
Material Construction and Resistance to Operating Conditions
The key to the long service life of this model lies in its carefully selected material composition. The body is made of grey cast iron EN GJL-250, additionally protected by an epoxy coating – this treatment shields the casing from external corrosion and enhances mechanical resistance. Inside the device, components most exposed to medium contact include the closing discs and the spring, both made of stainless steel AISI 304 (1.4301). This solution eliminates the risk of rusting of moving parts, which is a common cause of failure in check valves operating in hard water or aggressive chemical environments. Seals made of EPDM rubber ensure tightness and resistance to high temperatures and chemical agents.
Device installation is simplified thanks to its wafer-type construction. The valve is mounted directly between pipeline flanges according to PN 16 standard (PN 10 also acceptable), reducing installation time and eliminating the need for additional threaded or welded connections. Mounting dimensions comply with EN 558-49 standard, ensuring compatibility with most standard flanges available on the market.
Key Features and Operational Parameters
Technical values influencing the selection of this valve include nominal diameter DN 65 (corresponding to 2 1/2" connection) and pressure class PN 16, indicating the capability to operate at pressures up to 16 bar. The body made of epoxy-coated grey cast iron ensures durability in demanding conditions, while key internal components – discs and spring – are made of stainless steel AISI 304 for corrosion protection. Thanks to the spring, the device can be installed in any position, and its flow coefficient Kvs of 54 m³/h minimizes pressure losses in the system.
The valve operates effectively with water and glycol at temperatures up to +100°C (with a permissible short-term increase to +110°C). Its wafer-type construction facilitates integration with existing installations without the need for additional transition elements. Please note that this model does not feature a drain function or measurement ports, and it cannot be extended with an actuator – it serves exclusively for automatic shut-off of reverse flow via an internal mechanism controlled by medium flow. The total weight is approximately 2.3 kg, facilitating transport and installation even in limited working spaces.
