What is a smoke detector for?

A smoke sensor (also known as a smoke detector or detector) is a device that monitors a room for the presence of smoke. It is able to detect smoke in the initial, flameless stage of the threat, and not during a fire, which allows for a very quick user response and notification of the appropriate services. It may have a function of automatically notifying the alarm control panel about the threat. The device is small, so it can be easily installed in any room and discreetly integrated into the arrangement.

Where to mount a smoke detector?

Smoke detectors are most often installed near kitchens, in living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, basements, attics and other places where there are electrical devices that may be a source of fire.

Which smoke detector should I choose?

When choosing a smoke detector, it is worth paying attention to: • power supply – there are battery-powered and mains-powered models to choose from, with battery models allowing the detector to be installed in an optimal location in the room and guaranteeing protection even in the event of a power outage in the mains;

  • alarm effectiveness – the volume of the alarm (given in dB) is crucial for receiving information about the threat, usually the siren is about 85 dB loud;
  • durability – the device’s resistance to moisture (IP) and high temperatures should be checked;
  • range – should correspond to the size of the room;
  • additional functions – such as a battery status indicator, a false alarm shutdown option or a memory function (recording the detection of a fire hazard in the user’s absence);
  • mounting method – usually on the ceiling or wall;
  • compliance with standards – in particular with the PN-EN14604:2006P (EN14604:2005) standard for home smoke detectors;
  • warranty period – for selected models from our store, the warranty is up to 10 years;
  • dimensions.

Dual smoke and carbon monoxide sensor

Our range also includes dual smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, equipped with a voice alarm and two independent sensors: optical and electrochemical. These devices enable continuous monitoring and detection of not only fire hazards, but also carbon monoxide (CO).
