Underfloor heating is currently one of the most frequently used solutions ensuring optimal thermal comfort in a building. In this case, the heating surface can be either the floor or the walls, which ensures proper temperature distribution in the rooms. That is why surface heating is said to be economical and comfortable .
The most important feature of surface heating - including underfloor heating - is high thermal inertia. Houses in which this type of heating is installed take a long time to warm up and cool down the rooms. Therefore, it is crucial to select the appropriate automation that controls the flow of liquid to individual underfloor heating loops, which will automate and optimize the operation of the installation.
Advantages of underfloor heating
Underfloor heating provides the luxury of evenly distributed heat throughout the house, eliminating areas of overheating and underheating that often occur with radiator heating. In "underfloor heating", unlike in convection heating (radiators), heat is distributed by radiation.
The design of this system makes it invisible because the structure is completely hidden in the floor. However, this is another reason why it is so important to control the "underfloor heating" using room regulators - modern devices that increase its efficiency and energy efficiency. Correctly regulating the substrate temperature is important for the environment, the household budget and the well-being of users.
Salus temperature controllers
SALUS EXPERT series
This is a wide range of SALUS Controls products dedicated to underfloor heating. This series includes devices that make underfloor heating efficient and adapted to the daily rhythm of the household members.
Basic advantages:
- Creating heat zones: to achieve optimal thermal comfort - separate temperature control in each room.
- Very simple installation and connection.
- Application of PWM and VP systems.
- Favorable purchase price combined with innovative solutions.
- High quality of materials used.
- Full functionality and the ability to select an individual system based on many product versions.
- Optimization of energy consumption.
EXPERT series products are available in a wireless version - all models are surface-mounted. Very simple installation (no need to use communication cables) and operation at a constant high frequency of 2.4GHz guarantee stable operation of the system.
PWM
Each SALUS Controls controller dedicated to surface heating has a PWM electronic pulse width modulation system, which eliminates the high inertia of surface heating. Thanks to PWM, the actuators are closed/opened appropriately in advance so as not to overheat the rooms or cool them down too much.
VP
This is a feature that protects the actuators. It opens and closes them once a week, even if the heating is not in operation during a given period (e.g. outside the heating season).

SALUS Smart Home series
SALUS Smart Home is an easy-to-use heating control system, including underfloor heating, that can be installed in new buildings as well as adapted to existing facilities. The system includes devices that enable temperature control and regulation also via the Internet (via a free mobile application). SALUS Smart Home series products allow you to control the operation of a boiler, central heating or hot water pump or other heating or cooling device. The modernity of the SALUS Smart Home system and openness to other technologies of tomorrow (e.g. Amazon Alexa) increase the functionality of the houses in which it was installed.
What do you gain by controlling underfloor heating with the SALUS Controls brand?
- Uniform temperature distribution inside and easy control of devices.
- Aesthetic appearance – invisible installation.
- Comfort of a warm floor - the Quantum regulator additionally includes a warm floor function, regardless of the active work schedule.
- Reduced home heating costs.

Tue 2021 and heating control
Due to the constant development of technology and construction, every few years the Ministry of Infrastructure updates the guidelines allowing buildings to be used in terms of the lowest possible energy losses (standards related to thermal insulation and energy saving). In 2021, another update (WT 2021) enters into force, which tightens the current values of the coefficients: heat transfer (UP) and demand for initial non-renewable energy (EP).
How will this affect the choice of heating device?
Renewable energy sources contribute most to reducing the EP index, and as a result, heat pumps will become more popular, as they enable a large share of renewable energy in the building's energy balance. The technical requirements contained in WT 2021 focus on renewable and ecological heat sources, so low-temperature installations ("underfloor heating") and AUTOMATION CONTROL become more important. It is worth knowing that heat pumps achieve their best efficiency in low-temperature systems.
