An effective way to connect cables: resin sleeve

Added: Thursday, 3/21/2024

The resin cable joint is used to connect cables of various diameters and shapes, both underground and underwater or in cable ducts. It seals the connections, protecting them from the negative effects of external factors, including water and dust ingress. They become safe and durable, which translates into the efficient operation of the entire system. Which cables can be installed with a resin sleeve?

Resin joints are made of plastics, usually polyurethane resin, which is completely safe for the user. They are resistant to external factors, UV rays and chemicals. The increased tightness class allows for long-term immersion in water. Due to its unique properties and ease of installation, the resin joint is used in many industries and projects, both in low and high voltage installations.

Primarily, it is used to connect insulated cables of various cross-sections, both single-core and multi-core. It ensures effective connection of power, current and electrical cables. The wires are placed in a special connector and completely filled with resin - or rather a mixture of ingredients (resin + hardener). The resin mixture is supplied in a special, two-part package. You can easily mix the ingredients. After hardening, a durable and tight connection is created.

The cable joint should always be used in accordance with its intended use and the manufacturer's recommendations, respecting the regulations regarding installation and operation. The cable is decisive - its type, rated voltage, cross-section, number of cores and the technology in which it was made. Pass-through joints are used to connect sections of the same type of cable. On the other hand, transition joints provide the connection of different types of cables. There are also variants on the market for special applications and intended for specific industries, e.g. mining.

In addition to the resin joint, there is also a gel joint , consisting of a durable body and a highly flexible gel. It is used to connect wires in extremely difficult environmental conditions, when it is necessary to meet restrictive requirements for electrical installations.

Gel joints have an increased tightness class. They provide protection against mechanical damage and perform an insulating and sealing role. They significantly improve installation work, because they allow connections to be created without the use of a heat source and specialist tools. There are various sizes of gel joints to choose from, adapted to all popular cable cross-sections.
