When planning a heating installation, we usually focus on the basic heat source in the form of a furnace, boiler or heat pump . This decision determines the selection of the remaining elements. At this stage, we are considering how to heat domestic water. An electric boiler or heat pump will heat the water without additional domestic hot water heating sources. When choosing other heating sources, it is worth taking care of hot water also outside the heating season. KOSPEL SA experts suggest how to do it.
When choosing an exchanger, it is worth considering how domestic water will be heated when the heating system is not used? KOSPEL SA experts answer this question
The main heat source should then be replaced with an alternative source of hot water heating . Then an electric heater comes to the rescue. The electric heater, as a seemingly less important device in the entire installation, actually plays a very important role for several months a year.
Electric heater with thermostat – the perfect choice for better control
Currently, electric heaters with a thermostat are most often available on the market. How it's working? The principle of operation is similar to that of a capacity heater, the only difference is the location of the heater and, of course, the capacity of the tank. We set the thermostat to the desired temperature, then the heater starts the water heating process. When the initial temperature of the heated water is, for example, 20 degrees, and we set the desired temperature to 50 degrees, the heater turns on and after the water is heated to the set temperature, it will automatically turn off.
Please remember that the higher the temperature to which the water is heated, the more household members will be able to use it immediately. For example, if we heat the water to 40 degrees and take a shower at 38 degrees, the next household member will most likely only have cold water to use. Therefore, it is best to adjust the capacity of the exchanger and the temperature to which the thermostat is to heat the water, in proportion to the number of household members and the water consumption points in our house.

Costs of heating water with an electric heater? The most important thing is the appropriate selection for the installation
It is worth planning the installation so that it is economical. This is why the choice of heater should also be adapted to other elements of the system, and above all to the size of the exchanger, because too low heater power matched to a tank that is too large will force water to heat longer and, as a result, higher energy costs. The ideal solution is, of course, heating with an electric heater combined with a photovoltaic installation. Then water could be heated at almost no cost. With skillful planning of the heater's power, purpose and power source, it can be an economical and, above all, very comfortable solution.
