INGREMIO HFFR electrical installation pipe system - the highest security of media transmission

Added: Thursday, 8/18/2022

Each fire should be treated as a potential threat to the life and health of building users, as well as a possible cause of property loss and the risk of high costs. However, there are products used in the creation of installations whose parameters ensure greater safety for people and objects - e.g. Ingremio electrical installation pipes with the HFFR marking. Get to know them in the article below.

What does HFFR mean?

Products marked as HFFR have two very desirable properties. HF means "halogen free" in English, so the material is free of halogen compounds, which we will devote more attention to in a moment. In turn, the abbreviation FR develops as "flame retardant" or "fire retardant". This marking applies to materials that delay the spread of fire and stop the combustion process.

Why is it worth using halogen-free HFFR pipes?

Halogens is the name used to refer to five elements:

  • fluorine,
  • iodine,
  • astatine,
  • chlorine,
  • bromine.

Astatine and iodine (at room temperature) are solids, chlorine and fluorine are gases, and bromine is a liquid. These elements are found in standard products used in installations, e.g. PVC pipes. As long as the installation is safe and used normally, halogens are not a problem. It appears when a fire breaks out - then the gases become toxic and deadly. It is worth knowing that most of the injuries and deaths resulting from fires result from poisoning with dangerous gases, not from burns.

Hazardous substances are released already in the initial phase of the fire, when the flames spread to other elements of the building's equipment and structure. If there are drafts, dangerous compounds quickly spread to other rooms.

Such common materials as PVC are an example of halogen ones. When a fire occurs, its rapid spread is possible thanks to cables or pipes. Moreover, harmful gases react after contact with water or moisture, and the resulting hydrochloric acid may damage the building structure.

Halogen-free materials, e.g. pipes, emit approximately 15 times less harmful gases during a fire. Due to such a large difference in the concentration of these toxic substances, the chance of safe evacuation, effective intervention or saving property increases. And speaking of the spread of fire, it is worth appreciating the "FR" property of pipes and other installation elements. A material whose properties prevent the spread of fire, gives a much greater sense of security and reduces the risk of serious losses in a fire situation.

Products without halogen compounds

The inGremio offer includes HFFR models in the following versions:

  • openable, flexible tube for protecting, organizing and masking WKTD,
  • self-extinguishing electrical installation pipe made of various types of materials, such as RIL-HFFR , RL-HFFR , RIS-HFFR, RIL-PA6-HB or RIS-PA6-HB,
  • AirFlex Spectra 1000 HFFR - Airflex Spectra-1000 HFFR ventilation ducts are used to transmit air in ventilation and heat recovery systems in residential, public and industrial buildings.

As you can see, halogen-free products can be used to create ventilation and electrical installation systems, and even to mask and organize ordinary cables. Each pipe in Ingremio's offer is available in various dimensions, so you can easily find the variant necessary to perform work in a building with a higher fire protection standard.
