Grilles for a channel radiator
Channel heaters are the most common 
placed in the floor a short distance from the window. A special grid is placed over the hole in which the radiator is located so that the heat is evenly distributed throughout the room. A well-chosen openwork platform will ensure that the channel will perfectly match the interior design.
The grille must cover the surface of the opening, so it is best to order it together with a duct heating set - we will be sure that it will fit perfectly. It should not be permanently attached to it. In the event of a breakdown or the need to clean the radiator, the grille will have to be removed. Therefore, it is worth choosing a roll-up model that allows easy access to the inside of the canal. The roll-up model is also more convenient to store when we replace it with an off-season platform in the summer. After the heating season, it is recommended to replace the grille with post-season platforms. The post-season platform has the form of a plate surrounded by a frame (it is empty inside). It is the same length and width as the light of the heating channel (in case of long channels it is made in several sections, maximum length: 1.4 m).
How to ensure the aesthetic appearance of trench radiator covers?
When installing the floor, remember to leave some material to fill the platform. We fill the empty post-season platform with the same material from which it was made - parquet, panels, tiles, etc. The platform can be filled with the same floor pattern (e.g. the same arrangement of ceramic tiles or parquet strips). After placing the full platform in the heating channel, the heating channel will be masked and the bathtub with the exchanger (radiator) placed in the heating channel will be protected against dirt.
Of course, you can fill the post-season platform with a completely different material, but in such a situation the channel strip will be visible on the floor. It is worth remembering that an off-season platform is a solution used only when we do not use heating, i.e. after the heating season, e.g. in summer, or when we want to protect the canal during renovation works.
Types of covers for trench radiators
A modern cover for a channel radiator can be made of wood, painted or anodized aluminum. The above-mentioned models are available in many interesting colors and may differ in the thickness of the rungs, the distance between them and the way they are arranged. If you want the grille to be durable and resistant to corrosion, choose a grille made of aluminum that has been anodized. An oxide layer is formed on the surface of such material, which strengthens the structure of the metal and significantly extends its service life.
The so-called platforms are very popular. standard aluminum - profiles, spacer sleeves and the platform frame are painted in a silvery pearl color; customers also choose painted platforms (RAL K7 palettes - over 200 colors) when they want to match the color of the rungs to the floor. In the case of wooden platforms, they are most often matched to the type of wood from which the floor is made (oak, beech) or ordered in raw, unimpregnated form for independent processing by the user, e.g. dyeing, patinating, whitewashing.
Trench radiator grilles may also differ in shape. A very practical solution are corner models, which are used to connect heating channels at an angle and should be ordered in a set with the entire platform. Such models have any corner angle between 90° and 180°.
How to clean a trench heater?
Keeping your trench heater clean is very important for your health. If you do not want dust particles to constantly float in the air, you must regularly wash the grille with a damp cloth and vacuum the entire channel. Fortunately, these steps don't take much time, especially if you choose a good quality grille that gives you easy access to the duct. It is also worth cleaning the radiator itself from dust from time to time. To do this, wipe the exchanger fins with a damp cloth and a bit of mild detergent. This way, you will effectively take care of the air quality in your home. Remember to be careful when using models with a fan - CANAL VENT. These should not come into contact with water.
