In the event of a failure or the need to clean the radiator, the cover will have to be removed. The roll-up model is also more convenient to store, when in the summer we replace it with a post-season platform. After the heating season, it is recommended to replace the grid with post-season platforms. The post-season platform has the form of a plate surrounded by a frame (it is empty inside). It is the same length and width as the light of the heating duct (for long ducts it is made in several sections, maximum length: 1.4 m).
How to ensure the aesthetic appearance of duct radiator covers?
When installing the floor, remember to leave some material for filling the platform. The empty post-season platform is filled with the same material from which it was made - parquet, panels, tiles, etc. The platform can be filled while maintaining the floor pattern (e.g. the same arrangement of ceramic tiles or parquet planks). After placing the full platform in the heating channel - the heating channel will be masked, and the tub with the exchanger (radiator) placed in the heating channel will be protected from dirt.
Of course, you can fill the post-season platform with a completely different material, but in such a situation the channel strip will be visible on the floor. It is worth remembering that the post-season platform is a solution used only when we do not use the heating, i.e. after the heating season, e.g. in summer, or when we want to protect the channel during renovation work.
Types of covers for duct radiators
A modern cover for a duct radiator can be made of wood, painted or anodized aluminum. The models mentioned are available in many interesting color versions and may differ in the thickness of the rungs, the distance between them and the way they are arranged. Grilles for a duct heater can also differ in shape. A very practical solution are corner models, which are used for angular connection of heating channels and should be ordered in a set with the entire platform. Such models have any corner angle in the range of 90° to 180°.
How to clean a duct radiator?
Keeping your duct heater clean is very important for your health. If you don't want dust particles to constantly float in the air, you need to regularly wipe the grille with a damp cloth and vacuum the entire duct. Fortunately, these activities don't take much time, especially if you choose a good quality cover that will provide you with easy access to the duct. The heater itself should also be cleaned of dust from time to time. To do this, wipe the exchanger fins with a damp cloth and a little mild detergent. This way, you will effectively take care of the air quality in your home. Remember to be careful with models with a fan - CANAL VENT. These should not come into contact with water.
