What is a power socket?
In an industrial facility or residential building, there may be a single-phase installation and/or a three-phase installation, commonly called "power". Single-phase receivers are powered from the first phase with a voltage of 230V. On the other hand, energy-intensive three-phase receivers, requiring a voltage of 400V, are powered from the third phase. Connection to three phases allows much more energy to be sent to receivers - over 6kW. Additionally, a modern three-phase installation provides up to 5 AC circuits. In order to power a machine, the power of which is much higher than standard devices, effectively, safely and at all possible, special three-phase equipment is necessary. It consists of various accessories, including power sockets (also known as three-phase sockets).
What is the use of a power socket?
The power socket provides access to three-phase current with a power of up to 400V, which is something that single-phase equipment would not be able to provide. It can have a design designed for 4- or 5-wire power supply. Appropriate power plugs are used for sockets, allowing full use of power. Power equipment is characterized by an increased tightness class. The degree of protection is at least IP44, sometimes IP54 or even IP67, which allows the socket to be used in very dusty, dusty and damp places.
