An efficient and effective roof drainage system is essential, especially in the case of large roof areas, whether in industrial facilities or logistics centers. The aim of the system is to quickly direct rainwater to appropriate drains, thus preventing the formation of water ponds that could damage the roof. What makes the Geberit Pluvia system unique?

What is the Geberit Pluvia system?
Geberit Pluvia is an advanced vacuum system that drains rainwater from flat and slightly sloped roofs .
The use of small diameter pipes allows for increased efficiency in collecting rainwater and discharging it from the roof. Importantly, the installation design does not require the use of slopes on horizontal pipes, which makes it possible to significantly reduce the space occupied by individual elements of the drainage infrastructure.
The system operates using the principle of negative pressure, which means that water is sucked in through roof drains with a special design limiting the air inflow, and then flows through horizontal pipelines (collectors) of small diameter and, falling in a vertical pipe, pulls water with it just like a piston in a syringes.
Very high water velocities cause the system to self-clean, and the use of special protective kits at the roof inlets prevents contaminants from entering the rainwater drainage system.
Rainwater collected with the Geberit Pluvia system can be used for various purposes, such as watering gardens, washing cars or flushing toilets. Thanks to this, this system indirectly contributes to environmental protection, saving drinking water and reducing the load on the sewage system.
It should be noted that as technology develops, information on specific solutions and their availability may change. It is therefore always worth consulting the manufacturer or supplier of the Geberit Pluvia system for up-to-date information.
Products from the Geberit Pluvia series
To ensure durability, tightness of the system and excellent parameters acoustic (noise-limiting solutions), it is worth establishing business cooperation with Geberit , which has over 50 years of experience in designing and operating, among others, drainage installations.
It is also important that all elements of the Geberit Pluvia system, i.e. inlets, pipe system and fastening system, are subjected to numerous tests to confirm the durability of the installation even under extreme loads.
Noteworthy is the wide selection of inlets, which allows you to design and install the Geberit Pluvia system in almost any roof structure configuration and in any gutter.
Geberit Pluvia outlets are used on roofs:
- Light and massive;
- Inverted (the thermal insulation layer is above the waterproofing);
- Thermally insulated/uninsulated;
- Greens;
- Sheds.
Inlets dedicated to the Geberit Pluvia system can also be used in emergency installations. Changing the purpose of the gully to an emergency gully is done by installing a damming element in the standard Pluvia gully . As a result, the installation made in this way also operates under vacuum.
A key feature for an effective drainage system is its tightness. Hence, a wide selection of outlets dedicated to various types of roof coverings.
Application of Geberit drains taking into account differences in roof coverings:
- Foil splines;
- Splines for bituminous coverings;
- Gutter inlets intended for installation in gutters made of various materials (stainless steel, galvanized sheet metal, concrete, etc.).
Thermal insulation is protected against the migration of moisture from the interior of the building by means of a vapor barrier, and the Geberit Pluvia system ensures a tight passage and maintains the continuity of the vapor barrier.
Geberit is the only manufacturer that provides access to spare parts for 25 years from the end of production of a given series of gullies. Additionally, all system components are covered by a 10-year warranty.
Installation of the Geberit Pluvia system at the PepsiCo factory
The Geberit Pluvia installation at the PepsiCo factory in Środa Śląska is a perfect example of using the system in an industrial facility. The investment required the involvement of several contractors (Stangl from Świdnica under the supervision of the general contractor Budimex). All elements of the Geberit Pluvia roof drainage system were delivered by Geberit with the participation of the Wrocław branch of Onninen .
The involvement of several contractors and suppliers required coordination of activities in the following areas:
- Design assessments and requirements analysis for the Geberit Pluvia system. Factors that had to be taken into account included the size of the PepsiCo factory roof, the type of roofing, the amount of rainfall, and other site-specific conditions;
- Based on the analysis of technical requirements , the design of the Geberit Pluvia system was created. In cooperation with sanitary engineers, taking into account the shape of the roof, the appropriate number of downpipes, drainage points (roof inlets) and other factors were selected;
- Installation of the Geberit Pluvia system required the use of 300 Geberit Pluvia roof drains. The basic and emergency installation was made of 6,800 m of Geberit pipes and 3,720 fittings of various diameters. The facility also uses the Geberit Mepla water supply system ;
- After completing the assembly works, the system was tested to check the correctness of the drainage installation in terms of connection configuration, tightness and efficiency;
The success of the project was largely ensured thanks to the advice of Geberit specialists at every stage of the construction process .
