Ecocirc XL and XLplus are a series of wet rotor circulation pumps manufactured by Xylem (Lowara). The pumps are designed for circulating liquids in heating, cooling and hot water systems in the "N" version. They can also be used in solar and geothermal installations.

Why is it worth choosing Xylem Lowara Ecocirc circulation pumps?
The ecocirc XL and XLplus models can operate in 3 different operating modes: constant pressure, proportional pressure and constant speed. The additional night mode function can be activated in conjunction with these 3 functional modes. The circulation pump is factory set to operate in constant pressure mode without night mode. The setpoint is set at the factory and is suitable for use in various installations.
Constant pressure
The pump maintains constant pressure regardless of flow demand. The desired pump delivery height can be set via the user interface. The "Constant pressure" functional mode is recommended in systems with low pressure losses.
Proportional pressure
The pump pressure is increased or decreased continuously depending on the flow demand. The maximum pressing height can be set via the user interface. The "Proportional pressure" functional mode is recommended in systems with relatively high pressure losses in distribution pipes.
Constant speed
The pump maintains a constant speed regardless of flow demand. The pump speed can be set via the user interface. The "Constant Speed" functional mode is ideal when the pump is used in the main loop or boiler loop in a primary/secondary hydraulic system.
Automatic control of the temperature change of flowing water with the Xylem Lowara Ecocirc circulation pump
Additionally, the DHW circulation pump is equipped with a night mode. When it is turned on, the device itself controls changes in the temperature of the flowing water. When the water temperature drops, the sensor will switch the pump to night mode, which will make pumping slower and reduce energy consumption. Proper operating conditions are detected by an automatic learning process. The pump returns to the original setpoint immediately after restarting the system and increasing the temperature.
The night mode can be activated in combination with any of the modes described above, i.e. proportional pressure, constant pressure, and constant speed mode. However, this mode cannot be used in cooling systems. To activate night mode, the pump must be installed on the power line. The night period can be detected with high certainty if the feed temperature is controlled by a higher level control system.

What control modes does the Xylem Lowara Ecocirc circulation pump have?
In ecocirc XLplus models, you can work with an additional regulation mode depending on the temperature of the pumped medium. Configuration of control modes, as well as the external temperature sensor necessary for ΔT regulation, is available only via the communication bus or wirelessly, after establishing a connection with an external device.
- The ΔP – T regulation changes the set value of the nominal differential pressure depending on the temperature of the pumped medium. The temperature is regulated by a built-in temperature sensor or by an additional external temperature sensor.
- T – constant temperature control is a mode that changes the pump speed in order to maintain a constant temperature of the pumped medium. The temperature is then regulated by the built-in temperature sensor or by an additional external temperature sensor. It is suitable for use in heating systems with constant characteristics, such as hot water installations for households.
- ΔT – differential temperature control changes the pump speed to maintain a constant differential temperature of the pumped medium.
This function requires the use of an additional, external temperature sensor, which, together with the built-in temperature sensor, regulates the differential temperature in the system. Each Xylem Lowara ecocirc XL plus circulation pump can be configured to work with another as part of the dual-pump function. Operation with two pumps is already configured by default in the case of double pumps, but it can also be configured in the case of two circulators with one head if they are connected to each other via the RS485 communication port.
In the latter situation, it is necessary to use the same model for both pumps with one head, and after connecting it is necessary to determine which of them is the main pump (master) and which is the secondary pump (slave). When communication ports are used for communication between two circulators and the pump is also to be connected to an external device (e.g. building management system) via the RS485 port, it is necessary to install an optional RS485 module. This solution allows the use of a second port (necessarily on the main pump). The ecocircXLplus double pump can be used in various operating modes.
