High-performance circulation pumps with wet rotors - Xylem Lowara Ecocirc

Added: Monday, 3/4/2024

Ecocirc XL and XLplus are a series of wet rotor circulation pumps manufactured by Xylem (Lowara). The pumps are designed for the circulation of liquids in heating, cooling and domestic hot water systems in the "N" version. They can also be used in solar and geothermal installations.

Why choose Xylem Lowara Ecocirc circulation pumps?

The ecocirc XL and XLplus models can operate in 3 different operating modes: constant pressure, proportional pressure and constant speed. The additional night mode function can be activated in combination with these 3 functional modes. The circulation pump is factory-set to operate in constant pressure mode without night mode. The set point is factory-set and is suitable for use in various installations.

Constant pressure

Xylem ECOCIRC XL 32-80/180mm circulation pump, 230V, G 2" thread, pipe diameter 1 1/4 " The pump maintains a constant pressure regardless of the flow demand. The desired pump discharge height can be set via the user interface. The "Constant pressure" functional mode is recommended for systems with low pressure losses.

Proportional pressure

The pump pressure is continuously increased or decreased depending on the flow requirement. The maximum discharge height can be set via the user interface. The "Proportional pressure" functional mode is recommended for systems with relatively high pressure losses in the distribution pipes.

Constant speed

The pump maintains a constant speed regardless of the flow demand. The pump speed can be set via the user interface. The "Constant Speed" functional mode is ideal when the pump is used in a primary or boiler loop in a primary/secondary hydraulic system.

Automatic control of the temperature change of the flowing water with the Xylem Lowara Ecocirc circulation pump

Xylem ECOCIRC XL 32-100F 230 Circulation Pump Additionally, the DHW circulation pump is equipped with a night mode. Its activation causes the device to control the temperature changes of the flowing water itself. When the water temperature drops, the sensor switches the pump to night mode, which causes slower pumping and reduced energy consumption. The correct operating conditions are detected by the automatic learning process. The pump returns to the original set point immediately after the system is restarted and the temperature increases.

Night mode can be activated in combination with any of the modes described above, i.e. proportional pressure, constant pressure, and constant speed mode. However, this mode cannot be used in cooling systems. To activate night mode, the pump must be installed on the supply line. The night period can be detected with great certainty if the supply medium temperature is regulated by a higher level control system.

What control modes does the Xylem Lowara Ecocirc circulation pump have?

In ecocirc XLplus models, it is possible to work with an additional control mode dependent on the temperature of the pumped medium. Configuration of control modes, as well as the external temperature sensor necessary for ΔT regulation, is available only via the communication bus or wirelessly, after establishing a connection with an external device.

  • The ΔP – T control changes the nominal differential pressure setpoint depending on the temperature of the pumped medium. The temperature is controlled by a built-in temperature sensor or by an additional, external temperature sensor.
  • T – constant temperature control is a mode that changes the pump speed in order to maintain a constant temperature of the pumped medium. The temperature is then controlled by a built-in temperature sensor or by an additional, external temperature sensor. It is suitable for use in heating systems with constant characteristics, such as domestic hot water installations.
  • ΔT – differential temperature control changes the pump speed to maintain a constant differential temperature of the pumped medium.

Xylem Lowara ECOCIRC XL 25-80/180mm circulation pump, 230V, G 1 1/2" thread, 1" pipe This function requires an additional external temperature sensor, which together with the built-in temperature sensor regulates the differential temperature in the system. Each Xylem Lowara ecocirc XL plus circulator can be configured to work with another in the dual pump function. Dual pump operation is already configured by default for dual pumps, but can also be configured for two single-head circulators if they are connected to each other via the RS485 communication port.

In the latter case, it is necessary to use the same model for both single-head pumps, and after connection, it is necessary to determine which is the main (master) and which is the secondary (slave) pump. When communication ports are used for communication between two circulators and the pump is also to be connected to an external device (e.g. building management system) via the RS485 port, it is necessary to install an optional RS485 module. This solution allows the use of the second port (necessarily on the main pump). The ecocircXLplus double pump can be used in different operating modes.
