What is a hybrid heat pump?

A hybrid heat pump is a revolutionary device that is gradually conquering the market for economical and efficient heating. It combines 2 different heat sources:

  • monoblock or split air-water heat pump
  • single- or dual-function gas condensing boiler.

Immergas' offer includes two types of hybrid heat pumps, based on the following pump types:

  • monoblock – Victrix Hybrid
  • split – Magis COMBO V2

What differs between these two types of pumps is the location of the pump's hydraulic system. In split heat pumps, the system is located in the internal unit, and in monoblock heat pumps, in the external unit.

Magis COMBO V2 – hybrid split heat pump

Immergas hybrid heat pump Like split pumps, the Immergas Magis COMBO V2 heat pump consists of two units. The pump and the complete gas boiler are integrated in one housing of the indoor unit. The indoor unit is connected to a quiet outdoor unit, which in no way negatively affects the quality of life of both household members and neighbors. Magis COMBO V2 are available in models with power from 4 kW to 16 kW with a gas boiler with a power of 28 kW or 32 kW (dual-function or single-function with the possibility of connecting an external hot water tank).

Good to know:

In the case of devices from the Magis COMBO V2 series from Immergas , the energy efficiency class for a supply temperature every 35°C is A+++.

Magis COMBO V2 Features:

  • heating,
  • heating hot water,
  • cooling.

Installing hybrid heating means not only greater efficiency and effectiveness, but also economy. It contributes to lower exhaust emissions, which has a positive effect on air quality. In the case of hybrid heat pumps from Immerags, everyone receives a free 5-year manufacturer's warranty after registering the device on the customer platform. Only annual, paid inspections are required.

Victrix Hybrid – hybrid monoblock heat pump

Immergas hybrid heat pump Immergas Victrix Hybrid heat pumps are a combination of a 4 kW heat pump with a 24 kW gas boiler. Although there are two units here, their structure differs from Magis COMBO V2. There is a gas boiler installed inside the building, unlike Magis COMBO V2, it is not equipped with heat pump elements. The external unit is a monoblock with a hermetically closed refrigeration system and hydraulic system elements. Thanks to this, the installation of Victrix Hybrid does not require F-Gaz licenses and certificates.

Victrix Hybrid pumps are covered by a 5-year manufacturer's warranty. All you need to do is register the device in the customer portal at www.immergas.pl and perform annual, paid inspections.

Air heat pumps – principles of operation

A hybrid heat pump is not only a relief for your home budget, but also a beneficial solution for the environment. Her work is based on the use of a renewable energy source, air. The thermodynamic cycle consists of evaporation, condensation, and then compression, condensation and expansion in a closed refrigerant circuit. In the case of air heat pumps, the operating principles are clear:

  • the pump first “pumps” heat from the low-temperature level to the high-temperature level,
  • then the accumulated heat is transferred to the central heating system.

The device decides whether only the air-water heat pump should operate, only the gas boiler, or both systems at the same time, depending on the outside temperature. Usually, the boiler starts to support the pump when the temperature is very low, the efficiency drops and the electricity consumption increases.

When is it worth choosing a hybrid heat pump with a condensing gas boiler?

Do you think that a hybrid heat pump is a good solution only for modern buildings or those under construction? Nothing could be further from the truth - the device can also replace an outdated boiler or prove useful in renovation projects. However, it is worth paying attention to several aspects.

  • In buildings heated by a gas boiler, it should be verified whether the chimney flue needs modernization. The situation will be best assessed by the installer.
  • Before purchasing a hybrid heat pump with a condensing gas boiler, it is better to check the general technical conditions of the building.
  • It is necessary to assess the demand for heat and the needs of residents.

When installing a hybrid heat pump, not only the price of the device matters. You should also remember about the indirect costs associated with adapting the building to hybrid technology.
