Power plugs are used to connect electrical devices to three-phase current. They are used not only in industrial plants, but also in residential buildings when the connected device has very high energy requirements. From this guide you will learn how to do it correctly and safely.

What types of force plugs are there?
Power plugs differ in at least several important parameters. The IEC rated current is of key importance for the intended use of a given power plug model. This value determines the supported current loads. The options available are:
- power plug 16A ,
- power plug 32A ,
- power plug 63A.
In addition, the power plugs available on the market differ in the degree of IP protection, number of poles, material, impact resistance and color for easy identification. You also need to pay attention to grounding. There are power plugs with grounding and without grounding. On Onninen.pl, in order to make it easier to find the necessary power equipment, we have divided power plugs according to purpose and method of installation into:
- portable,
- Constant,
- blackboard.
What are the levels of force security?
Equipment and machines using the third phase often have to work in difficult conditions, e.g. in car workshops, production plants, halls, warehouses, technical rooms or on farms. In such places, properly designed power equipment is required to avoid short circuits and other dangerous events resulting from, for example, contact with water.
When talking about force protection levels, we most often mean the IP protection level, i.e. the tightness class of the equipment declared by the manufacturer. Not only plugs, but also power sockets, cam switches and other accessories have the IP marking. The higher the tightness class of the socket or plug, the better for the safety and durability of the devices. After the letters IP there are two numbers that indicate the equipment's resistance to dust and water ingress.
At the Onninen electrical wholesaler you will find power plugs with IP44. This tightness class means resistance to the penetration of foreign solid objects with a diameter over 1 mm and to splashing water (it can spray onto the device in any direction). The specialized design prevents water, dangerous parts and foreign bodies from entering the interior. The IP44 protection level, combined with high quality workmanship, allows the plug or socket to be used even in extremely difficult conditions.
How many kW can be connected to one power plug?
When planning to provide three-phase power supply and connect equipment to it, it is better not to play the role of an amateur electrician. Moreover, the vast majority of manufacturers of electrical devices require that the connection be made by a licensed electrician, which is documented in the warranty card. Attempts to act on your own may result in a failure of the electrical installation. The smallest power sockets (400V/16A) offer a total of 11 kW, and the larger, more popular power sockets (400V/32A) - 22 kW.
In the first case, you can connect devices with a power of up to 11 kW to the power supply, and in the second - up to 22 kW (weaker ones too, of course). However, even if you have a large power socket, it will not always be possible to charge devices with maximum power, which should be taken into account by, among others: people who want to charge an electric car in the garage. The parameters of your electrical connection are important. The electrician should check the circuit breaker in the switchboard, which is responsible for cutting off the current supplied to the power socket.
