Organizing the transport of goods is an extremely complex and at the same time very sensitive process. One of the most important elements of the entire procedure is effective securing of the freight to guarantee the safety of the driver, road users and the cargo itself. In today's publication, we advise you how to use transport belts to use the full potential of this tool. We invite you to read!

How many lashing straps should you use per load?
The answer to this question is not clear. Each order is different, and security measures should be adapted to the different specificity and characteristics of the freight. However, there are guidelines that allow you to calculate the appropriate number of transport lanes. For this purpose, the PN-EN 12195-2 standard applicable in the European Union should be cited here, which standardizes safety issues. The document presents the mechanism of construction and operation of tools that enable the elimination of all inertia forces that act on the transported objects.
However, the formula proposed by the mentioned standard is quite advanced and requires taking into account, among others, the friction coefficient, but also the gravitational acceleration or the vertical acceleration coefficient! This makes the scheme difficult to use in practice. Then it is worth using a simplified model. In this context, the required number of belts is the result of the equation where the numerator contains the weight of the load multiplied by the acceleration coefficient minus the weight of the load multiplied by the friction coefficient - this is determined using special tables.
In the denominator, multiply the number 2 by the friction coefficient and the vertical component of the belt tension force. The entire equation is multiplied by a factor resulting from the uncertainty of the belt tension force distribution. The resulting result is rounded up, thus obtaining the number of necessary lanes. Is there an easier way?
Yes! For this purpose, special tables have been designed that significantly facilitate work when securing goods. Then it is enough to know the basic parameters, including the weight of the load, the wrap angle and the friction coefficient.
How to fasten transport belts properly?
Merely knowing the required number of safeguards does not guarantee complete security. Transport belts require proper installation, which translates into the effectiveness of the installed protection.
Transport belts with a two-part belt consist of a long and a short part. The first element should be moved over the surface of the freight, and then the mounted hook should be attached to a frame specially designed for this purpose. This action is also repeated for the short part.
The aligned end of the long belt part should be inserted into the gap in the tensioner drum located at the edge of the short belt part. It is necessary to tighten the belt and then use the tensioner to wind the belt. The recommended range is a minimum of 1.5 turns to 3 turns. The final stage is closing the tensioner and appropriately securing the loose part of the tape.
How many tons can the conveyor belt withstand?
To determine the strength of the belt, look at the label on the belt. It is the mysterious LC symbol, i.e. lashing capacity, that determines the fixing capacity of individual products. LC therefore informs about the maximum belt load that can be applied. It should be emphasized that this parameter depends on the mounting technique, but the presented values are dedicated to a simple system. In practice, a transport belt with an LC range of 2,500 daN is designed to secure straight loads up to 2,500 kg.
