Lashing straps – effective securing of cargo during transport

Transport belts are equipment used to secure various types of cargo in road, sea and air transport. In combination with special mats, chain lashings, corners and nets, they provide full stabilization of the load. There is no possibility of accidental loosening and unfastening while driving. Fastening belts should be included in the equipment of every vehicle used for transport, regardless of the type of cargo being transported. They will be useful both for securing luggage on the roof rack, as well as for stabilizing loads on a trailer or car trailer.

Types of load securing straps

There are several types of lashing straps, which meet different transport needs. The most popular are universal straps, which come in one- and two-piece versions. One-piece straps (also known as tightening straps) do not have hooks at the ends. They are useful in situations where you need to secure and stabilize the load on the vehicle, but there are no elements to which the hooks can be attached. Two-piece straps, as the name suggests, consist of two elements (straps): one ends with a hook, and the other with a lever and ratchet. Two-piece straps can be adjusted to obtain the desired tension. A tensioner is used for adjustment. There are also durable 3-point lashing straps available on the market, which are used, among others, in roadside assistance vehicles. They allow cars to be secured on a tow truck. They provide the appropriate pressure of the wheels to the ground. On the other hand, ERGO lashing straps successfully cope with more demanding transport tasks. They are characterized by increased strength (clamping force) and a special tensioner. It is also worth mentioning the anchor strip straps in delivery vehicles.

What parameters should you pay attention to when buying fastening belts?

The most important parameters of transport belts include: • material (it should be resistant to the conditions in the work environment), • fastening capacity (LC), • tensioning force (SHF), • force pressing the load to the ground (STF). The LC, SHF and STF parameters are given by manufacturers in daN (1 daN = 1 kg). It is also important that the selected belts are comfortable to fasten, adjust and unfasten.
