Lashing straps – effective securing of the load during transport

Transport belts are accessories used to secure various types of loads in road, sea and air transport. Combined with special mats, chain lashings, corners and nets, they ensure full stabilization of the load. It cannot be accidentally loosened or unfastened while driving. Lashing belts should be included in the equipment of every vehicle used for transport, regardless of the type of cargo transported. They will be useful both for securing luggage on a roof rack and for stabilizing loads on a tow truck or car trailer.

Types of load securing belts

There are several types of lashing straps to suit different transportation needs. The most popular are universal belts, which come in one- and two-piece versions. One-piece belts (also known as tightening belts) do not have hooks at the ends. They will prove useful in situations where you need to secure and stabilize the load on the vehicle, but there are no elements to attach the hooks to. In turn, two-piece belts, as the name suggests, consist of two elements (belts): one ends with a hook, the other with a lever and a ratchet. The two-piece straps can be adjusted to obtain the desired tension. A tensioner is used for adjustment. There are also durable 3-point fastening belts available on the market, which are used, among others, in roadside assistance vehicles. They allow you to attach cars to a trailer. They ensure adequate pressure of the wheels on the ground. However, ERGO lashing straps successfully cope with more demanding transport tasks. What parameters should you pay attention to when buying fastening belts?

The most important parameters of transport belts include: • material (should be resistant to the conditions prevailing in the working environment), • fastening capacity (LC), • tensioning force (SHF), • force pressing the load to the ground (STF). LC, SHF and STF parameters are given by manufacturers in daN (1 daN = 1 kg). Moreover, it is important that the selected belts are comfortable to fasten, adjust and unfasten.
