How does an energy padlock work?
The energy padlock is an example of a simple design, universal protection with a wide range of applications. Although it requires a key to open, it provides a basic level of protection. It works on the principle of a single key system. A special, universal key with a triangular or crescent-shaped tip is used to open it. The recesses fit into the hole in the padlock. The key is used on a daily basis by gasworks employees, emergency energy services, law enforcement personnel, etc. An energy padlock opened with a universal key should only be used as a temporary lock, limiting access - without guaranteeing absolute protection against illegal opening.
