Installing a heating mat under the panels - is it difficult?

Thermal comfort in the home space largely determines the comfort of its use, and in a broader perspective - the quality of our life. Therefore, when preparing for renovation, it is worth carefully analyzing the heating solutions available on the market and choosing the optimal proposal. The undisputed advantages of underfloor heating are rapidly gaining more and more supporters who, in addition to guaranteeing a very favorable temperature distribution in the room, particularly value the energy efficiency and ecological nature of this solution, as well as the fact that the installation elements - unlike traditional radiators - are hidden under the floor. . However, until recently, this option was rarely considered in the case of renovated rooms, because installing underfloor heating required removing the old floor, which generated additional costs and extended the renovation time . Thanks to the Klettjet R and TS14 R renovation systems from Purmo, which are laid directly on the existing floor, restrictions in this area have been practically eliminated.

Klettjet R Purmo Self-adhesive PE heating mat

The key component of the Purmo Klettjet R system is a self-adhesive PE mat with a thickness of 6 mm, which can be attached, for example, to a ceramic tile floor. 16 mm diameter Velcro tubes are then attached to the mat. This system allows for easy and quick installation - the entire project can be easily completed by one person using a pipe uncoiler (the use of a tacker and clips is not necessary). Moreover, the pipe spacing can be any, so adapting the system to the geometry of the room is not a problem. Finally, the installation is covered with anhydrite screed. The total height of the Purmo Klettjet R is approximately 40 mm.

Purmo TS14 R is also an underfloor heating system intended for installation on an existing floor. Its basic element is a system board made of polystyrene, covered with aluminum sheet. Purmo TS14 R also includes pipes with a diameter of 14 mm with an aluminum insert, which are mounted in channels located on the surface of the plate. We can lay floating parquet or floor panels with a minimum thickness of 15 mm directly on the slab, while finishing the floor with e.g. ceramics or carpet requires the use of an additional system load-bearing board with a thickness of only 5 mm or dry screed boards. Consequently, the height of the Purmo TS14 R can range from 30 to 40 mm. This system is also used when installing wall heating , and can also be used to cool a room.

The Klettjet R and TS14 R systems from the Purmo brand portfolio enable the installation of underfloor heating in places where it has been significantly difficult for a long time . Users of renovated or modernized houses and apartments can now take full advantage of the advantages of this solution. Additionally, the low height of Klettjet R and TS14 R means that the floor heats up approximately 3 times faster than when using traditional systems.
