What is the difference between aluminum radiators and cast iron radiators?

Radiators actually constitute an integral part of the heating installation. At the same time, they should match the aesthetics of the interior. You also need to pay attention to their technical parameters and the material from which they are made. Aluminum radiators with a body made of aluminum are very popular. They are characterized by very high thermal conductivity. They are also resistant to corrosion. Another advantage is that they heat up very quickly and release heat evenly. They are suitable for both closed and open systems. They are also very light.

However, cast iron radiators, which are often part of older installations, are much heavier. They are highly resistant to mechanical damage and variable water pressure. Their durability often reaches over 50 years. Cast iron radiators, unlike those made of aluminum, have a larger water volume and greater inertia, so they take longer to heat up. Therefore, aluminum radiators work better in modern installations, even those with low temperatures. They ensure savings in water consumption and at the same time good performance. Because they are light, they do not burden ceilings. In the case of aluminum radiators, it is also possible to expand them with additional fins or sections, which makes it easier to adjust the radiator to the size of the room. In addition, installation is easier than in the case of cast iron radiators.

How much does heating with aluminum radiators cost?

Aluminum radiator FERROLI PROTEO HP600 heating power 106.6W As we have already mentioned, aluminum radiators heat up quickly and retain heat well. Hence the heating cost is not very high. Of course, you need to take into account the operating time, i.e. the number of hours the radiator will work during the day. To do this, you need to multiply it with the number of days of the heating season. In Poland it lasts on average 200 days. If the radiator will operate during the day for e.g. 20 hours, we multiply this result by 200 days, which gives us 20,000. hours a year. Then 20 thousand hours, we multiply times the estimated electricity consumption in heating mode or in the case of gas heating. The cost of gas consumption for approximately 200 m2 at current prices will be approximately PLN 800.

If you are looking for 10-rib aluminum radiators, the right choice may be the FERROLI PROTEO 450 aluminum radiator, heating power 92W . This model has a warranty of up to 10 years. It looks very aesthetic and impresses with its good technical parameters. The heating power of 10 fins is 1066 W. In addition, the radiator reaches the selected operating temperature very quickly and responds quickly to the heat demand. The maximum working pressure is 16 bar. Thanks to the use of passivation, you do not have to worry that the radiator will corrode.

Also noteworthy is the FERROLI PROTEO HP600 500mm aluminum radiator, heating power 106.6W . This model also has really good technical parameters. It should be noted that the heating power is high and amounts to 106.6W. If the radiator is to be installed in a recess, there should be at least 10 cm of free space above it. The radiator is white, so it fits into any interior. It is equipped with both a single-chamber and two-chamber water heating system.

If you are looking for a model with more power, it is worth considering the FERROLI PROTEO 900 800mm aluminum radiator, heating power 170W . This is another great model from the Ferro brand. Of course, we would like to remind you that for greater safety it should be equipped with a vent and shut-off valve. It has a small water capacity, which of course translates into low thermal inertia. It ensures quick response to changes in heat demand. Thanks to the special structure of the fins, such a radiator is efficient and at the same time provides a large heat exchange surface. Therefore, it is a great choice for large rooms. Its design makes it suitable for both modern and traditional arrangements.
