New mechanical radiator thermostats from Danfoss

Added: Monday, 6/26/2023

In 1943 , Danfoss introduced their first radiator thermostats . Now, 80 years later, the latest mechanical radiator thermostats have been created to improve energy efficiency and comfort in buildings. The new product line includes both standard liquid thermostats and unique gas thermostats, combining well-known features such as a click connector with new features such as a front scale that improves the visibility of settings.

Even more precise regulation with Danfoss thermostats

Danfoss Regus RA thermostatic head with nut, built-in sensor, limited to 16 C In April 2021, the EN215 standard introduced new requirements for energy efficiency. It contains a classification of control accuracy (CA), which determines the difference between the temperature set on the thermostat and the room temperature. The lower the CA value, the more accurately the thermostat maintains the set temperature. Thermostats with a lower CA value help avoid overheating and achieve higher indoor comfort.

The new range of Danfoss thermostats complies with the EN215 standard and achieves the highest possible rating - 0.2 K - for all 3 thermostat variants - Aero™, Redia™, Regus™. Fast response time to changes in ambient temperature, ranging from 10 to 22 minutes depending on the model, in addition to the CA indicator, is an additional differentiator that affects the energy savings achieved. The range includes many types of connections (RA, RTD, M30, M28), thus ensuring a perfect fit to any installation.

How to save energy with danfoss gas thermostats?

The new range of thermostats includes, among others: Danfoss Aero RA click gas thermostatic head, remote sensor Danfoss Aero™ thermostats using unique gas bellows technology. Research [1] shows that temperature control in the case of gas thermostats is more accurate than in the case of liquid thermostats, which reduces the amount of energy consumed. The result is additional energy savings of up to 2% [2] .

To help users adjust the temperature more precisely, a front scale has been added. Additionally, there is 1°C for each mark on the main thermostat scale. This is especially important when we know that lowering the temperature by 1°C allows us to save about 5% of energy.

Is it possible to protect against manipulation and theft with Danfoss thermostats?

Danfoss Redia RA click thermostatic head, built-in sensor, with zero setting Yes, Aero™ Thermostats help you save money in other areas too. The tamper-proof version helps prevent vandalism. It is very durable, therefore it is an ideal solution for publicly accessible buildings, and the anti-theft protection provides additional protection for thermostats - disassembly can only be done using a special tool.

New thermostats also have built-in options for limiting the temperature setting range, so building managers can prevent unauthorized persons from changing the temperature on the thermostat.

What facilities do Danfoss thermostats offer for installers?

The new range of thermostats also includes features designed with installers in mind. A unique click connector function known to installers and we have used it in our new radiator thermostats. The snap-in connection allows for quick, safe assembly without the use of tools.

Installers can also use the Danfoss Installer App to access the installation tools and conversion tips they need. This will make it easier for installers to switch to the new series of thermostats.
