New models of VTS VOLCANO heaters – designed to work with a heat pump

Conventional energy carriers are becoming more expensive and ecological awareness is growing. Therefore, low-temperature heat sources, especially heat pumps, are rapidly gaining popularity. Responding to contemporary needs and expectations, VTS Group is expanding the offer of VOLCANO heaters with the VR4 and VR Mini 3 models. Their design enables cooperation with heat pumps, thanks to which they can be used in modern heating systems.

What should you pay attention to when choosing a heater?

When selecting a heater to work with a heat pump, remember that it is a source with a much lower temperature of the heating medium than in the case of traditional boilers . Air efficiency and the number of rows of the water exchanger play an important role here. The VOLCANO VR4 fan heater is equipped with a highly efficient, 4-row water exchanger, adapted to work with heat pumps. The design of the exchanger allows for reverse operation with the function of heating rooms in winter and cooling them in summer.

Exchanger efficiency is the key to heater efficiency

Currently, there are several heating system solutions available on the market that use various types of heat pumps. The most popular are air-water heat pumps, which are used mainly in small-volume buildings . With this in mind, VTS Group has supplemented its offer of high-efficiency low-temperature exchangers also in MINI devices. A 3-row water exchanger is used here, which can work effectively with a heat pump while ensuring the compact size of the device itself.

The increased row size of the exchanger makes VR4 a device also suitable for reverse operation, i.e. as an air cooling device . It is then powered by ice water.

In order to increase the comfort of using VOLCANO devices for refrigeration purposes, drip trays are introduced to the offer. They are used to drain condensate formed during the condensation process on the water exchanger.

The choice of a VTS heater does not end with the model

Similarly to the previously offered VTS heaters, VR4 and VR Mini 3 will also be available in two engine versions. Customers will be able to choose between three-speed AC motors and brushless, energy-saving EC motors:

The engines used in the new devices have already been used in the VTS VOLCANO VR3 Water Heater and VTS VOLCANO VR Mini Water Heater models. Thanks to this, the implementation of new devices does not require the use of new automation elements, and the principle of connecting the heaters is the same as in the case of devices already known on the market.

VTS VOLCANO also for hybrid heating systems

Many investors of large-cube facilities use so-called hybrid systems to maximize their facilities' protection against the influence of external conditions. They use both ground heat pumps and gas boilers. This arrangement allows you to reduce heating costs when external conditions allow you to use the full potential of heat pumps. During periods of the greatest frosts, the heating system protects the facility from cooling down thanks to the gas boiler , which, if necessary, can effectively support or replace the operation of the heat pump. As the boiler is only started periodically and its operating time is relatively short each time, it does not expose the user to a significant increase in heating costs.

The universal nature of the VOLCANO heater enables cooperation with such a hybrid heat source, adapting the operating parameters to the temperature of the heating medium and the current needs of the facility.
