New rules for settling photovoltaics 2024

Added: Tuesday, 8/6/2024

More and more people are deciding to install photovoltaics. It really allows for significant savings and lower bills, while also protecting the environment. Thanks to photovoltaics, you can significantly reduce your electricity bills. However, you have to remember that the use of renewable sources of electricity requires compliance with certain regulations.

Reasons for changing regulations for photovoltaics

Electricity prices have risen significantly. Indeed, probably every user has noticed that electricity bills are currently very high. That is why photovoltaic panels are being installed on a large scale. It is certainly important to select the power of the solar farm. Currently, there are new rules for settling photovoltaics.

It is worth knowing the reasons for this state of affairs. What do they mean in practice and will the prosumer benefit from it? Let's start with the fact that one of the main reasons for changing the regulations for photovoltaics are EU requirements. Indeed, the changes in regulations are dictated by the requirements of European law, and more precisely, the need to comply with the EU directive. This means that prosumers should have an adequate share in the distribution costs themselves.

Until 2022, owners of micro-installations did not have to cover them. In addition, there was strong pressure from electricity sellers and DSOs. Sellers believed that the amount paid by DSOs was insufficient. There were also losses related to the reduction in demand for energy from the external installation.

New rules for settling photovoltaics 2024

When investing in a photovoltaic installation, you need to know that new regulations are currently in force, under which the concept of a virtual prosumer appears. This is a concept that allows you to buy shares in renewable installations that are physically located in a different place. A new model on the market is also the collective prosumer.

This means that residents of multi-family buildings, such as apartment blocks, can jointly produce and also consume energy from renewable energy sources. Subsidies are still in force. Therefore, the introduction of changes does not make investing in photovoltaics any less profitable. Of great importance is also the fact that from 1 July 2024, the new rules for photovoltaics include a transition to calculating the value of energy based on the market, hourly price.

What is net-billing and how does it affect the profitability of photovoltaics?

Photovoltaic system owners are currently concerned about whether the investment will still pay off. Hourly billing of electricity production may reduce savings from photovoltaic panels.

Photovoltaic kit 10kW (PV panel 400W JA Solar all black, three-phase hybrid inverter Huawei 10kW, hermetic DC/AC switchboard, MC4 connectors) 12-year warranty on HUA JAS 400WP/10 KW panels Electricity production may therefore be less profitable. This is where the concept of net-billing comes in. How does it affect savings from photovoltaics? The new system, net-billing, is based on a special form of financial settlement. The deposit, which replaces the virtual energy storage, will collect the amount resulting from the settlement of energy delivered to the grid, as well as energy taken from the grid.

The price of selling electricity from photovoltaics by a prosumer to the grid is the monthly rate of the market price of energy. In turn, the price of purchasing electricity from the grid is valid in a given year. It is the electricity tariff. It depends on the territory of which operator the prosumer has the installation installed. Photovoltaics and energy storage provide savings, but for some people they may be smaller.

Comparison of photovoltaic billing systems Net-metering vs. Net-billing

In the case of investing in photovoltaic panels, it must be remembered that the investment will only be profitable if the photovoltaics have the power to meet your electricity demand. To increase efficiency and savings, energy storage is beneficial. According to the new regulations, a new billing system is also emerging, which is net-metering and net-billing.

SOLPJAS/NH/400WP/8KW It is worth learning more about them. Net-metering is a commercial variety, in which the prices are dictated by the entity from which we buy, but also to which we sell electricity. It is important to realize that this solution, although very profitable, it seems that in order to be able to save more, it is best to invest in your own energy storage, which can currently be considered an essential part of a photovoltaic installation. Net-billing, on the other hand, is a system of value settlement of surplus energy produced by the prosumer.

It allows owners of photovoltaic installations to sell surplus energy to the grid. However, this does not mean that the price the user receives will be profitable. In this system, the energy produced by solar panels, which is then not used by the owner, goes directly to the grid, and the owner receives a certain amount.

My Electricity 6.0 - rules in 2024

Investing in renewable energy requires quite high costs. Fortunately, you can use the Mój Prąd 6.0 program. It covers micro-installations from 2 kW to 10 kW in the option without energy or heat storage, but also micro-installations from 2 kW to 20 kW, but with the obligation to have an energy storage.

The average user can receive PLN 28,000 in subsidies. However, this applies to large installations, while in the case of micro-installations, the subsidy can be PLN 6,000. Therefore, this program is not very beneficial for people who have small photovoltaic installations and promotes larger investments.

Who is the virtual prosumer and how does it affect the profitability of photovoltaics?

The use of renewable energy is currently essential, because electricity is very expensive. By using even small photovoltaic installations, significant savings can be made. Of course, it is important that the entire installation is adapted to the needs. The rule generally applies that for every 1000 kWh of energy per year, 1.2 kW of power must be selected.

In addition, you should choose photovoltaic panels whose temperature resistance exceeds at least 90%. Photovoltaic cables must also be really strong. In the case of an inverter power of 3 to 7.5 kW, a 6 mm solar cable must be used. The new billing system introduces the phenomenon of the virtual prosumer. First of all, under the current regulations, consumers can become virtual prosumers of renewable energy.

The amendment to the RES Act introduced a change that increases the availability of green energy. The introduction of the status of a virtual prosumer allows people who until now could not afford their own installation to participate in the energy market. Such a virtual prosumer benefits from a share in a larger installation and has a specified percentage of share. In such a case, the electricity produced, which is in stock, does not go to the home installation, but is billed using meters.

For this reason, a photovoltaic farm can be located in other places in the country than the place of residence of the prosumer. It is worth knowing that a virtual prosumer must produce energy for their own needs. In addition, they cannot conduct business activities in which energy production is the most important entity. It is also worth knowing that a legal person, a natural person, a cooperative, or even a religious association or research unit can become a virtual prosumer.

  1. The 10kW photovoltaic set is worthy of attention (PV Panel 400W JA Solar all black, Three-phase Hybrid Inverter Huawei 10kW . It is distinguished by really good work efficiency. The set includes connectors and panels. However, you need to choose a cable for photovoltaics . Confirmation of reliability is a 12-year warranty. The monocrystalline panel ensures high durability and mechanical resistance.
  2. A good choice may also be an 8kW photovoltaic set (PV Panel 400W JA Solar all black, Solplanet 8kW three-phase inverter, DC/AC hermetic switchboard, MC4 connectors) . It is characterized by efficient operation. The panels are black, monocrystalline, so they have high efficiency and effectiveness. They are made in half-cell technology. Thanks to this, they are characterized by much lower internal resistance. At the same time, power losses are even 1/4 smaller than in the case of panels using classic designs based on full cells.
  3. You can choose a 5kW photovoltaic set (PV Panel 400W JA Solar all black, Three-phase Hybrid Inverter Huawei 5kW . This model uses a three-phase hybrid inverter, as well as a socket-plug set. However, you need to buy mounting elements. These are another monocrystalline panels that are really strong, as confirmed by a 12-year warranty.
