Even safer electrical installations thanks to boxes from Kopos

Concrete box Kopos SBKP 60 50 M Building safety is a frequently discussed, although sometimes underestimated, topic. It is worth noting that electrical installation boxes for concrete have higher requirements in terms of strength, tightness, and resistance to temperature and chemicals. Much depends on the details. Electrical installation material intended for laying electrical cables in concrete must also be resistant to mechanical damage, for example during assembly and fixing the material in the formwork. This material must also be resistant to the ingress of concrete mixture into the pipes.

Kopos offers a well-thought-out system for laying installations in concrete structures. The concrete electrical installation program consists of individual components, the mutual combination of which allows the use of these products in various variants, occurring in construction objects realized based on the technology of solid concrete mixtures poured into formwork or in the production of prefabricated panel elements, such as wall or ceiling elements.

Characteristics of the new concrete boxes from Kopos

A new series of concrete boxes and accessories has recently been launched. The new concrete boxes are made using innovative two-component technology with membrane inlets. The material from which the boxes are made is halogen-free and lead-free polypropylene with resistance to temperatures from -25°C to 60°C, and for a short time up to 90°C. According to the requirements of ČSN EN 60670-1 art. 18, the boxes meet the requirements of the high temperature resistance test and the flaming loop test at a temperature of 650°C.

The new system is designed for electrical installations with voltages up to 500V. The new system is based on two sizes of boxes. They differ in depth. Together with the cover, the shallower box reaches a height of 50 mm and the deeper one 70 mm. The boxes can have covers of different shapes and diameters. Two covers are designed for mounting with a magnet or nails and two for mounting with nails or glue. All variants provide high quality workmanship, ease of use and mutual connections. The box system is used for mounting devices with an axial distance of 71 to 90 mm. The axial distance of 71 mm is used in the case of multiple mounting of individual devices for multiple frames and 90 mm for single frames.

New solutions from Kopos are not just cans

The new system of boxes for poured concrete also offers accessories in addition to the boxes themselves. Flexible mounting wings are used for direct attachment to metal formwork. It is possible to use mounting wings in all variants of SB-KP boxes. Thanks to the asymmetrical construction of the wings, it is possible to embed the boxes at a depth of 15 to 30 mm or 30 to 50 mm, depending on the selected connection of the wings to the box. The wings can be attached to the reinforcement using binding wire or tie straps.

Strong fixing magnet is used in steel formwork. The magnet diameter is 50 mm, height is 10 mm and its strength is 50 kg. Additionally, we offer support elements for wall mounting, such as a ceiling pin, which allows the installation of a ceiling hook facilitating the suspension of a lighting fixture. It is possible to mount in all sizes of concrete boxes from the SB-KP series by piercing the dedicated membrane in the bottom of the box before pouring concrete. Its maximum load is 25 kg.

All accessories, such as the boxes, are made of halogen-free and lead-free materials and have passed the glowing loop test at 650°C. The level of protection of the user against access to hazardous parts and the device itself against penetration by external factors is in accordance with the IEC 60529 standard with a minimum degree of protection of IP3X, except for the V 68 S cover assembly, which has a degree of protection of only IP2X.

An inseparable element of the system are pipes, which are used to connect boxes or lead wires to the surface. Flexible PVC or PE pipes with mechanical strength equal to or greater than 320 N are suitable for this purpose. The size of the pipe results from the pre-pressed bushings in the box.
