The most common dimensions of inspection doors and their applications
The inspection door must be of such dimensions as to precisely cover a square or (less often) rectangular opening in the wall, one of whose sides may measure from 15 cm to even 60 cm. However, the hole itself should be large enough to not only be able to check the tightness of elements or read meters, but also to diagnose a possible failure, replace gaskets, clean pipes, repair damaged valves using tools, etc. Over time, everyone will have to carry out maintenance work in within the installation, so it is worth making access to its most critical parts as easy as possible.

Division of inspection doors depending on the material
Inspection doors are mainly made of stainless or galvanized steel, aluminum or durable plastic, e.g. ABS or PVC. The type of material affects not only the price of the door (metal models are more expensive), but above all, its properties and, consequently, its intended use. Cheaper plastic inspection doors can cover pipes, valves and other installation elements in places where the conditions are not difficult and no special protection is required. For cleaning out the chimney, for example, durable and corrosion-resistant metal inspection doors are recommended. Such properties include, among others: stainless steel and galvanized steel. Metal covers most often cover particularly important, sensitive or electrically live components of the installation. If it is necessary to provide protection against unauthorized access (e.g. in stairwells in blocks of flats), a lock function is necessary.
The material also affects the visual value of the grille. The most discreet effect is provided by concealed inspection doors with additional filling. They allow you to paste a tile, cover it with paint or finish it with another material (e.g. wood), which allows you to aesthetically integrate the door into the wall surface and the overall arrangement - of the bathroom, hall or even the living room.
