Relays for controlling current, voltage and temperature of the RPN series motor

Added: Wednesday, 5/5/2021

Relpol , which has been specializing in the production of relays for over 60 years, has introduced new RPN supervisory relays to its offer. All products in this series with their numerous functions fit into the 17.5 mm installation module housing.

The task of Relpol supervisory relays is broadly understood prevention and protection against possible failures, and thus the operational safety of the devices in which they are used.

These relays are divided according to the ranges of supervised current from 0.5A to 16A, which allows the relay to be precisely matched to the controlled circuit.
These relays allow you to select three main functions according to which it is possible to control the current:
1. maximum value monitoring (OD)
2. minimum value supervision (UD)
3. values between minimum and maximum (WD)

Each of the functions described above can be additionally extended with an error memory function. Then the individual functions take on the designations OD+L, UD+L, WD+L.

The described functions can be set in two ways by selecting them appropriately with the function setting knob (1. Without the error memory function, 2. With the error memory function). In the first method, after an error occurs, the relay returns to operation automatically (according to the settings). The second method - in the event of an error, the relay will remain off until the "error memory" is reset (by interrupting and re-applying the supply voltage).

An additional advantage of the described relays is the ability to set a time delay for the implementation of a given function from 0 to 20 s. In these relays we can also set the maximum current from 10 to 100% and the minimum from 5 to 95%.

Relays for monitoring the engine operating temperature RPN-1TMP-A230 is a relay for monitoring the engine operating temperature. The temperature of the motor windings is monitored using PTC resistance sensors, the terminals of which are often located near the motor terminals. If the supply voltage to the relay is turned on and the engine temperature is appropriate (the total resistance of the engine PTC sensor circuit is lower than 3.6 kΩ), the executive relay is turned on. If the total resistance of the PTC circuit exceeds 3.6 kΩ, the relay will disconnect, signaling an error - temperature above the MAX threshold - the red LED will be lit continuously. The RPN-1TMP-A230 relay has a TEST/RESET button, it is also possible to connect an external RESET button to the R1-R2 terminals. An additional advantage of the relay is the detection of short circuits in the sensor circuit.

Relays for voltage monitoring in a 3-phase network

Execution code Super phase loss Supers of asymmetry Phase sequence monitoring Disconnection of the R contact
RPN-1VF-A400 fixed threshold fixed threshold - constant time
RPN-1VFS-A400 fixed threshold fixed threshold fixed threshold constant time
RPN-1VFR-A400 fixed threshold adjustable threshold fixed threshold constant time
RPN-1VFT-A400 fixed threshold adjustable threshold fixed threshold adjustable time

Voltage monitoring relays are designed to monitor the voltage in a 3-phase network. For alternating voltage, the frequency of the measuring circuit can vary from 48 to 63 Hz. Three versions from the new RPN-1 V series guarantee a constant contact disconnection time in the event of an error. Another functionality is available in the RPN-1VFT-A400 relay, where this time, in the event of an error, is adjustable from 0 to 10 s.

The relays monitor the basic parameters of a 3-phase network: phase loss, asymmetry, and phase sequence (the RPN-1VF-A400 relay does not control the phase sequence). The supervised voltage is also the supply voltage, and the rated load of these relays is 12 A / 250 V AC.
