The designs of modern PVC sewer wells include several main elements. These may vary depending on the manufacturer and system, but the basic parts are usually similar. So we have a base - a base that connects to the pipeline, a stem pipe (or rising pipe) and a telescope with a telescopic pipe, a manhole and a cuff with a gasket. What is a cuff? Why is it worth using? And which pipe coupling will fit in a given case? We answer!

What is a cuff and what are its advantages?
A collar is a sealing cover containing gaskets. It belongs to the group of accessories dedicated to plastic wells. It is used in sewage and drainage networks. It is used to tightly connect the shaft pipe and the telescopic pipe. It is mounted between them. The resulting connection is characterized not only by perfect tightness, but also by flexibility. The collars compensate for stresses resulting from atmospheric factors, natural processes occurring in the ground and special environmental conditions. Thanks to this, pipelines can be effectively and long-term protected against leakage. These elements should be durable, resistant to mechanical damage and easy to install.
However, sewage is not the only area of application of cuffs. Due to its ability to compensate for thermal expansions, the sleeve is also widely used in water, gas, heating and industrial networks. In the case of, for example, culverts under the road, it enables sealing the space between pipes: a service pipe and a casing or drilling pipe. Thanks to the sleeve, water, sand and various impurities do not get between the pipes. The material of the service/casing pipes does not matter.
Selection of the appropriate sealing sleeve for a corrugated pipe
When choosing the sleeve for telescope passages, the diameters of the corrugated ascending pipe and the smooth telescopic pipe are particularly important. In addition, you should pay attention to the material of manufacture, which determines the properties of the element. The corrugated pipe will fit, among others: rubber cuff. Of course, all rubbers are different. EPDM rubber, based on a special type of rubber, works well in the construction of manholes.
The EPDM sleeve is characterized by increased durability and resistance to weather conditions, extreme temperatures, UV radiation and aggressive liquids. It is flexible and elastic, but does not deform. In sewage installations, extremely durable and resistant sleeves made of PP (polypropylene) are also used to seal the space between the service pipe and the casing pipe.
