Replacing the boiler with a new one? Now is the best time.

Added: Monday, 5/24/2021

One of the main reasons why it is worth replacing solid fuel heating sources is their negative impact on the environment. In winter, air pollution standards in many regions of our country are exceeded by up to several hundred percent. In this respect, Poland still lags behind in European air cleanliness rankings. Let us remember that our decisions related to heating systems affect the cleanliness of the air, and thus the health of the entire society and future generations. Currently, it is possible to receive funding for the investment in replacing the current furnace. Is a positive impact on the environment the only advantage of this change? KOSPEL SA experts tell you what other benefits you will gain from it.

The devices that pollute the environment the most include: manually fired wood boilers, tiled stoves and low-efficiency coal boilers. Various anti-smog regulations are still being introduced, and from September 1, 2019, there is a total ban on the use of solid fuels in the city of Krakow. Did this help? The average concentration of PM10 from all Krakow measurement stations in the period from September 2018 to August 2019 was 37 µg/m³. In the period from September 2019 to August 2020, it dropped to 31 µg/m³.* These results prove that the massive replacement of boilers in households has a real impact on improving air quality. Is this the only advantage of changing the heating system? Of course not. By replacing the heating source, we also gain time, comfort and safety - these are extremely important advantages, especially since now, thanks to funding from government programs, we can replace them at a much lower cost.

Is it a good time to replace your boiler? Best. We can do it cheaper thanks to government ecological programs.

The most popular of them is the nationwide "Clean Air" program. It is addressed to individuals and includes co-financing the replacement of old and ineffective heating sources powered by solid fuels in households with modern heat sources meeting the highest standards. The level at which you can receive co-financing will be depend on the selected heat source with which we want to replace the existing furnace or boiler.

It is worth noting that subsidy funds can also partially finance the construction of installations of renewable energy sources (RES) and mechanical ventilation with heat recovery ( recuperation ). Currently, both at the basic and advanced level, you can obtain funding for the construction of a photovoltaic micro-installation of up to 50% of the investment and up to PLN 5,000. An excellent choice may be a photovoltaic installation used to produce clean electricity, which will be powered by, among others, electric boiler.

What heating method is best? Should you focus on ecology or your own comfort? You can combine these two benefits - answer KOSPEL SA experts

There are several heating solutions on the market, but the most ecological, comfortable and safe ones are the electric boiler and the heat pump . In recent years, heating using these devices has become more and more popular. This is due to the convenience of their use, maintenance-free operation, and the growing availability of energy from renewable sources. Which of these heating sources should we choose? It depends on individual possibilities and needs.

The advantage of an electric boiler is its low price compared to an installation with a pump. In addition to the low investment costs of electric heating, there is also no requirement to create a boiler room. The aesthetic appearance and high work culture allow the installation of an electric boiler in almost any room. Without a doubt, these are some of the safest heating devices available on the market - both for users and the environment. In buildings with good thermal insulation, an electric boiler combined with a photovoltaic installation can be a very effective way of heating.

So what are the advantages of heating with a heat pump? First of all, during operation, a well-selected pump will consume 3-4 times less electricity than a boiler. Convenience, comfort and safety associated with using a heat pump are similar to those associated with using an electric boiler.

Already at the stage of planning the installation, the investor should determine, preferably with the help of a specialist, which of these heat sources he will choose. However, it is worth remembering that with a well-suited photovoltaic installation, both the use of a heat pump and an electric boiler can be very economical.
