Check out the Geberit Pluvia drains in the Onninen offer
Why is it worth choosing the Geberit Pluvia system?
First of all, because it is durable, solid, supported by technical knowledge and many years of experience in design and assembly, and all its elements, i.e. inlets, pipe system and fastening system, are tested by Geberit under extreme load conditions.
One of the most important elements that determine the efficiency and speed of the vacuum system are Geberit Pluvia roof drains . Their advantage is their special structure, which guarantees limited air access to the inlet, thanks to which just 4 cm of water on the roof is enough for the entire system to be flooded with water and operate at full efficiency. The functional element of the drain is responsible for this, because it determines the speed of operation of the system. Another advantage of Geberit drains is the high quality of the materials from which the individual elements are made. It is worth paying attention to the seals that are responsible for the long-term tightness of the system. Geberit only uses seals made of high-quality EPDM, without plasticizing additives. Such seals do not age and are not deformed / destroyed in changing operating conditions, even in extreme conditions (Africa / Asia). This guarantees durability for over 50 years.
Geberit Pluvia roof drain
For Geberit, safety is the basis, which is why it recommends installing an additional emergency installation that protects the flat roof in the event of excessive rainfall, i.e. more than assumed in the calculations. In the case of Geberit's offer, the issue of emergency installations is an integral part of the Pluvia system. All gullies in the Geberit Pluvia offer can also be used in an emergency installation, and the character of the gully can be changed to an emergency gully by installing a wetting element in a standard Pluvia gully. The wetting element is integrated with the functional element, which means that the emergency installation made in this system also works under vacuum when the water level on the roof is low. Emergency drains are installed on the same elevation, close to standard drains. After mounting on the roof, it is easy to distinguish both installations, because the emergency drains have gray elements that block the basket, and the standard drains have blue elements.

Advantages of the Geberit Pluvia system
The main advantage of the Geberit Pluvia system is its adaptation to virtually all types of roofs:
- Light and massive
- Inverted (the thermal insulation layer is above the waterproofing)
- Thermally insulated/uninsulated
- Greens
- Sheds
- Gutters
When we talk about installing drains on the roof, remember that for the roof drain to function properly, it must have a tight connection with the waterproofing. Therefore, Geberit's offer includes drains dedicated to roof coverings: for foil, bituminous coverings, as well as gutter drains intended for installation in gutters made of various materials (stainless steel, galvanized sheet metal, concrete, etc.).
In order to protect thermal insulation against moisture migration from the room located directly under the roof, all roof penetrations should be made tight. The vapor barrier elements of the Geberit Pluvia system are used for this purpose. If we are dealing with rooms with high humidity, failure to use a tight vapor barrier results in a loss of thermal insulation of the insulation layer on the roof.
Installation of roof drains
Installation of drains on green, inverted roofs is possible thanks to Geberit Pluvia system drains made of PE d315 pipes. Water can be supplied to the inlets installed in the manholes from the top through a grate or from the side through factory-drilled holes in the manhole. The undoubted advantage of this solution is the complete offer, which also includes a relief plate, which guarantees that during roof operation (vertical/horizontal movements), the well will not damage the waterproofing on which it is placed. Depending on the type of roof and its purpose, two types of manhole finishing are available: light up to 300 kg and heavy up to 1.5 tons. Therefore, it is possible to install Pluvia drains also on a roof serving as a parking lot.
Seeing the dynamic operation of the vacuum installation, one may ask whether the Geberit Pluvia installation will break? So we hasten to answer no. The system offered by Geberit is completely safe. Thanks to proper installation, it can withstand even heavy loads. The pipe system (PE-HD) is mounted using system holders on a rail that absorbs the forces resulting from the operation of the pipeline. Therefore, the whole thing can be attached to the ceiling using M10 rods.
It is true that the long straight section of the collector is vibrated by the water flowing at high speed, causing deviations from the axis. This is not a problem for the pipeline. The extremely flexible and durable material from which the pipeline is made is resistant to vibrations, and welded joints that connect the material at the molecular level guarantee absolute tightness.
However, for extreme situations, Geberit offers a system solution of side reinforcements that stabilize the pipeline.
Finally, it is worth mentioning the support offered by Geberit. First of all, advice at every stage of the construction process, but not only that. Geberit is the only manufacturer that provides access to spare parts for 25 years after the end of production of a given series of gullies. The warranty for all system components is ten years. Geberit also guarantees the functioning of the vacuum system provided that the installation is carried out in accordance with the study provided by Geberit.
